I've just bought a HP w2207 monitor (native res: 1680*1650) and would like to use it for Blu Ray playback. However, on running the WinDVD and Cyberlink BD/HD advisor tools, it states that my display is not HDCP compatible - have a look:

I thought this monitor was supposedto be HDCP compatible ?

It depends on what frame-rates you want. If your'e happy with around 20FPS, with a 7950GT you should easily get a mixture of medium high. But if you want 35 FPS and above better stick to low/medium settings.

[QUOTE="Miguel16"]

[QUOTE="Thinker_145"]I would buy none and get a 720p HDTV.Thinker_145

and that would be a very stupid move

And why is that so.Higher resolutions are way overated.He would be able to max every game in 720p with crazy AA and AF with butter framerates.And he could also go high in crysis with that resolution.In 1900x1200 i doubt crysis would run smoothly at medium settings.

What is the point in buying a LCD with a crazy native res if you cant max it out.

As long as the monitor does not have scaling issues - there will be no problems running games at a lower resolution than the native resolution - and in Windows you will get more workspace which is also useful.

I don't think you can play at very high with GTSdayaccus007

At that resolution, it would probably be possible.

[QUOTE="9mmSpliff"]AMD Phenoms are for sale in stores now. I think they are pre-orders though. So I would go for one of those if I was on socket am2Nipplehook

Maybe I was looking in the wrong place but arent they set for 2009?

No. You can even buy some of the Phenom chips now.

UT3 is supposed to use it. Anyone know if Gears of War on the PC is using it?pipegrep

I think all games based on the Unreal Engine 3 support the PhysX cards for enhanced visual effects.

The performance margins that not that good enough to warrant the replacing of the graphics card.

You mean 1280*800 ?

Don't know about Spore and B+W 2, but Crysis will run at medium settings and Oblivion probably medium/high with that graphics card. However, the 8600GT is not really the best graphics card - perhaps save up some more for an 8800 card ?

Apparently the new 8800GTS from Nvidia beats the 8800GT - and may be at a similar price. (Source: www.custompc.co.uk)

If so, it may be worth getting an 8800GTS (the new one with 112 stream processors) instead of the 8800GT.
