Why would they only sell this at GameStop? There is no way they were paid enough for the exclusivity to recoup lost sales from Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, et. al.
This is one of the few reviews I've seen that docked a game for MTX. Good for GS.
But one thing they should have mentioned is the always online requirement. There are reports all over the internets about unstable connections that won't allow gamers to access the career or any single player modes.
This "leak" seems conveniently timed considering sites like DF studying the specs and concluding that it won't be a significant step up from the base console and that it is unlikely to run GTA6 at 60 frames.
And I stand by my prediction. The Pro will cost $600 and they will charge a fee to upgrade PS5 base games to PS5 Pro specs (i.e., $10 to play Spider Man 2 in 4K120 with path tracing).
For the tenth time, none of these layoffs are about revenue or profitability. Most of these companies post healthy revenue and margins, the issue is that their greedy shareholders want 2.2% gain when the company posts 2.0% growth.
So the fastest most expedient way to cut overhead and G&A is to reduce headcount. As always, follow the money.
I like watching dudes on steroids pretend to beat each other up.
Also, sheer shameless hypocrisy never gets old. EVERYONE in the WWE past and present, ALL of their employees, ALL of their fans (including sites like GS), ALL of their media partners were fully aware of Vince McMahon's proclivities, it was the worst kept open secret in wrestling yet they helped cover it up and none of it prevented anyone from cashing a paycheck or promoting the brand and events.
Vince is the Harvey Weinstein of wrestling and both were surrounded by cynical enablers.
If this releases for not more than the black Xbox Series S, I would feel very dumb for buying that console. Plus this will devastate resale value of the black Series S.
This looks and plays like an AA game that is disguised as and priced like an AAA game.
I rarely buy games at launch, very few games deserve to be bought at full price, and this game especially seems like it is not worthwhile unless acquired via a steep discount.
Also releasing this game alongside Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a gigantic error by Sony. Like Titanfall 2 being released with Battlefield in 2016, this game will be ignored.
Considering the specs, I don’t see how this thing will be anywhere less than $600.
Also I will make a bold prediction. Sony and other publishers will charge customers if they want their base PS5 games patched to take advantage of the Pro’s extra horsepower i.e., Spider Man 2 patched to Pro specs (PS4 to PS4 Pro patches were free but they will charge this time). It will be around $10 just like the Last of Us II gen 9 upgrade.
So WBIE had two high profile mega budget live service games fail back to back (Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights), they have one current live service game that is bleeding users and losing engagement (MK1) and their solution to all this is to fund and produce MORE games like the ones that failed?!
What’s even more laughable is that their central lesson from the mega hit Hogwarts Legacy is not to produce more games like that but to convert them to live service. If I were the shareholders, I would immediately demand that the entire WBIE c-suite be cashiered and their golden parachutes cancelled due to malfeasance and sheer incompetence.
