Dead Space 1 was mostly a niche game, a damn good niche game, and it should have kept it's theme and feel and kept it's (relatively) small budget.

This trying to turn every franchise into a cash cow is ruining more franchise than I can count. All changing the formula of a series does is alienate the fanbase that initially made it a success and leave people who didn't play the first wondering what the hell this series is.

"If implemented correctly, DRM can convince PC players to buy the original game rather than an illegitimate copy." I fail to see any sort of logic in this statement, if anything it will only lead to an increase in games being pirated, pirates being able to justify what they're doing due to the DRM, and with legitimate players that actually buy the software now having to download the less restrictive cracked version just so they don't have to deal with the DRM at all
