Another vote for Skyrim. And this is coming from a Fallout fan.

Fallout 4 starts off great but despite its vast open world, it's a very linear game storywise, with no alternative ways to complete quests and it's limited dialog options. There is no real way to play as an evil character or just be a dickhead like you could in previous Bethesda RPGs. There are no real evil factions to join like The Legion or Dark Brotherhood in Fallout 4. Everyone is more or less goody two shoes. I don't know why in the world Fallout 4 starts you off at the Northern end of the map. I though for sure we would start off in the middle of the map at least. Skyrim is also way more challenging than Fallout 4 in terms of difficulty and challenge if you don't exploit Skyrim's glitches.

Also the settlement building is a cool time sink though it becomes rather pointless when you build these massive settlements and the settlers barely interact with any of the furniture setpieces. Not to mention the DLC being rather lackluster at this point. Automatron was cute, but Wasteland Workshop is a joke. Let's hope Far Harbor is not the only story based DLC Bethesda has planned for Fallout 4.

Far from it. Storytelling is one of the oldest, most reliable forms of entertainment. Though now, devs are using single player as a way to bait people into multiplayer for microtransactions. No matter how fun a multiplayer game is, it will never give you the amount of immersion you can get from a well crafted single player experience.

The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 were perhaps the biggest games of 2015 and neither one features a hint of multiplayer. Even games like GTA V sold well because of it's single player. Regardless of how well GTA V Online is doing, if Rockstar announced that GTA 6 would be multiplayer only, they would lose out on way too many sales.

@seanh: FF7 was cool but definitely not the best in series. Characters like Red 13 and even Cait Sith stood out to me more than the arrogant, ridiculous Cloud and the goodie two shoes Aeris. I enjoyed Chrono Trigger much more than FF7. Even FF6 and FF9 had more interesting stories to tell.

Whatever Dragon Age 4 is, it definitely needs to play less like an offline MMO and more like an actual RPG. No one wants to spend hours farming for rare RNG loot drops and tedious fetch quests like 'kill 10 rams'. Inquisition is definitely my favorite of the series, though it's way too grindy and starts to feel more like a chore than an actual game.

To the TC, your own opinion is all that matters.

Some complaints and general dislike for Bethesda RPGs are valid, though many gamers just hate to see a WRPG be so popular because there are no under dressed, anime loli girls to gawk at and no turned based combat with a dozen menus to click through everytime you have a random encounter. The Witcher 3 is good though the combat is subpar and lacking in comparison to Fallout 4.

Lack of end game content. Too many "go here, kill ____" quests. Lack of interesting side quests. Game world the same size (about) as FO3 and NV. Little enemy variety. Inventory management sucks (thank you mods).

Otherwise it's a pretty good game. It just lacks the amount of content that FO3/NV or especially Skyrim had. Hopefully the DLC fixes that.

If going by these standards then FNV would be the worst of the series. No end game content (you can't even play past the ending period), enemies placement and respawns in the exact same locations, a boring world to explore, crap DLCs like Blood Money and Honest Hearts, not being able to fast travel to Lucky 38, and goofy map designs (even more mountains than Skyrim to walk around) just to name a few cons.

Fallout 4 definitely has its cons too like crap companion AI that ruins stealth play, crap inventory management (all Bethesda games have this, lol), settlement issues and a few technical hiccups. Skyrim did do some things better, though Fallout 4 is far from being the worse in the series.

Kojima / Konami really fucked up on this one.

seems like a bit of a non sequitur this. can't be that bad surely if you got a good 30 hours out of the game before you're interest waned?

i've sunk about 40 hours in and thoroughly enjoyed it despite a lot of general / environment / control annoyances / frustrations. i haven't touched it since i picked up the nathan drake collection last week but it's nice to have a break tbh. i will definitely revisit before f4 lands. for me, when the game delivers it really delivers, so much so that i think it has the witcher 3 beat as my goty up to now, but tbf i'm a huge stealth game fan so my seemingly endless tolerance for sneaking around gameplay helps

The core gameplay itself is excellent when you strip away the crap story and all other MGS elements. MGO is cool but gets relatively boring with only 3 game modes, 2 of which suck. I ended up taking a break and decided to revisit Mass Effect 2 and Skyrim.

The gameplay rocks, though I gradually lost interest in the story, 30 hours or so after the prologue. Quiet's story intrigued me more than Big Boss's dilemma. Repetitive missions, Mother Base Sims simulator, forced FOB, lacking MGO, the bullshit plot twist, the left out mission 51, Kojima / Konami really fucked up on this one.

Just saying. From a technical stand point, this site has really gone downhill ever since the new overhaul makeover. This used to be one of my go to sites for gaming. Now, I'd rather go elsewhere or browse your youtube channel than to visit this site.

Your video players suck ass and now your news articles and reviews don't even load properly.I've tested loads using different browsers on different computers. Maybe this site loads fine for some, but it should load properly for all.
