You don't seen to understand the point. These cases were of broken games, previously intensely hyped. Not of a functional game with no hype at all.
I have not said that better scores, makes better games and therefore that hype makes better games; but that hype can take effect on a reviewers judgement. Specially when in most cases, reviewers are very forgiving on design issues.
I can't help but feeling the review is too hard on the game. There was a complete lack of hype for the game, I wonder if it had the same hype of the second, if it would have scored better.
