I always use subtitles. For movies in English that's easy to understand (so not Trainspotting) I play them at a 1.2 seconds delay (so they lag a bit and don't spoil what it is about to be said).

For foreign movies I might use them with a 0.8 or 1.0 seconds delay.

I would personally rank them:

  1. Casino
  2. Goodfellas
  3. Raging Bull
  4. Shutter Island
  5. The Wolf of Wall Street
  6. The Departed
  7. The King of Comedy
  8. Taxi Driver
  9. Cape Fear
  10. The Age of Innocence
  11. After Hours
  12. The Color of Money
  13. Mean Streets
  14. The Irishman
  15. Who's That Knocking at My Door
  16. New York, New York
  17. Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore
  18. Silence
  19. Kundun
  20. Hugo
  21. Bringing Out the Dead
  22. The Aviator
  23. Gangs of New York
  24. The Last Temptation of Christ
  25. Boxcar Bertha

Some notes: Casino is not only my favorite Scorsese movie, but probably my favorite movie ever.

Leo's performance in Wolf of Wall Street is one of his best and I think he should have won the Oscar for it.

As time passes the more Nicholson's performance bothers me (too cartoonish) and how it would be better with De Niro in the role (but he was filming The Good Shepherd).

Always had a hard time rewatching Taxi Driver, very unsettling.

I went to see Hugo at the theaters when it came out in 2011, but 10 minutes in the electricity at the mall went out so they gave everyone an open-ended ticket for 1 movie. For whatever reason I didn't use the rain-check on Hugo and never saw it till this year.

For the poll I used Scorsese's ten most voted films in IMDb's, so take it up with them.

Two hours of watching Brad Pit be a badass?

Pulp Fiction is still my favorite. So many memorable lines and scenes.

Basically.

I would personally rank them:

  1. Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood
  2. Inglourious Basterds
  3. Reservoir Dogs
  4. Pulp Fiction
  5. Jackie Brown
  6. Death Proof
  7. Kill Bill: Vol. 1
  8. Kill Bill: Vol. 2
  9. Django Unchained
  10. The Hateful Eight

Some notes: There are movies where he has "guest" directed in like Sin City and Four Rooms. Death Proof was part of a double feature alongside Robert Rodriguez's Planet Terror, called Grindhouse. Also, QT considers Kill Bill vol. 1 & 2 to be one movie.

Very consistent filmmaker for me, nearly always good, but not great. The only film of his I truly dislike is The Hateful Eight.

So are they using cutouts or is the stadium actually basically full?
