@dragonagelore: What? I've seen LOTS of complaints about the violence and sex on Game of Thrones.

I'm also a bit curious about the whole idea that since it's fiction people shouldn't complain. Does that apply to everything? Like, being that this is a gaming website I frequently see that nothing pisses people off like their favorite videogame franchise getting ruined. Should all of the gamers here not complain either?

Does this just apply to ALL comments about fiction or just the NEGATIVE comments about fiction? If I'm not supposed to say anything bad about fiction, am I allowed to say something GOOD about a work of fiction? Or is the idea here that people aren't supposed to talk about fiction at all?

Can someone please explain this to me? Because I sort of fail to see how "it's FICTION" has any relevance to anything.

@ltjohnnyrico: 1) I already made it very clear that it's stupid to be complaining about it until they know more about it. Regardless, you know very well that "if you don't like it, just don't watch/play it" is also used all the time when referring to criticism of finished works.

2) I don't think you know what the word "ban" means. A protest is not a ban. A protest is not an attempt at a ban.

@FrozenHELL78: See, here's the thing: It's one thing to say that their protest is STUPID, seeing as how the show is in its very early stages and that there's therefore nothing to criticize.

But the problem with the whole "if you don't like it then shut up and don't watch it" mentality is that that is anti-CRITICISM.

Are you of the notion that no one should criticize ANY work of fiction? I hope not, because that would be stupid.

I'm not saying that there isn't a problem with people protesting the show. What I'm saying is that IF there's a problem, then the problem isn't in the act of protesting. The problem is in protesting from a position of ignorance. If you're gonna take a stand against something like a TV show or a movie or a videogame, at least wait until you know enough to be able to determine what the work is saying.

But you're sort of saying that no one should bother protesting or criticizing any work of fiction just because it's fiction. "If you don't like the setting of the show, don't watch it." How is that a solution? They HAVEN'T watched it since it hasn't been made yet. The "not watching it" isn't the problem, the "talking about it" is the problem.

I gave this show a chance. I disliked it right from the beginning, but I stuck through season 1 and was like, "that's it for me."

The absolute biggest complaints I have are that the show is slow as molasses and the characters are thoroughly unlikable. I can tolerate deviations from the source material, but season 1 was ridiculously drawn out. And while all of the main characters in the comics could be jerks at times, the show makes them (particularly Jesse and Tulip) completely unlikable.

I'm not sure if any of these complaints have been rectified in Season 2, but as of now...I'm done. I actually HATE Jesse and Tulip, they were shockingly off-putting in season 1.

Complaining about "too much story" is pretty much the same as complaining that "the story sucks".

There are some people who do nothing but talk, and I can spend hours listening to them. But do you know who I complain about talking too much? The people who just keep on spewing words out of their mouths and don't ever say anything worth listening to.

"Too much story" is not a badge of pride. That means that your story sucks.

@frank_castle: You say that they "dropped" Mel Gibson, but was Mel Gibson even willing to take the job?

File this under "No S***, Sherlock." Did anyone really think that Mel Gibson would wallow in the gutter with one of these superhero franchises? And not even one of the GOOD superhero franchises! The man is above this crap, and it would be a shame for him to be wasting his time on this stuff. He KNOWS he's too good for this crap.

@Barracuda54: Of course I'm not going to know until I see it, but clearly I'm going to form opinions about how stuff looks like it's shaping out to be based on word of mouth and promotional material. Turns out I don't have enough time (or money) to just watch EVERYTHING, so I'm clearly going to have to filter some stuff out based on the pre-release material just not looking compelling enough for me.

That's all beside the point anyway though, since I already said that I'm gonna give this movie a watch.

@jack00: How is that a problem? Reviews are SUPPOSED to be one person's opinion. Reviews are not SUPPOSED to represent what hundreds of millions of people think about it. And if what they do is so meaningless, then why the hell are you getting so upset at the notion of one person giving his own opinion about a movie? How exactly is it a "problem" for one person to give his own personal opinion in a review?
