Open world games are the best games.

When I was a kid in the 80's, I dreamed of playing a game that was wide open and I could do what I want, when I want.

Games like The Elder Scrolls series and Fallout 3 & New Vegas let you do just that.

For the life of me I'll never understand why people on these boards talk shit about Bethesda. Does it irritate me that their games are usually filled with a shitload of bugs at launch? Sure, but the good always FAR outweighs the bad and they give you TRUE open worlds to explore.

How much more realistic do people honestly expect videogames to look?

They're NEVER going to be so highly detailed that you can't distinguish them from real life.

I'm primarily a PC gamer and that's where my loyalties lie, but not everyone wants to put forth the time, effort and cash to build a quality gaming PC.

You can go on about "ooohhhh 4k 60+ fps with all of the high quality shadows and antialiasing!!"

But the majority of gamers don't care about that shit. Hell, I don't care half as much as the majority of PC gamers.

Some people just want to set up their console, hit the power button and start playing.

No it won't. The WiiU was fucked from the get-go thanks to Nintendo's seemingly non-existent advertising campaign.

I didn't even know that Nintendo made a new console until it had already been on the shelf for 6 months.

And unless Nintendo finally gets some 3rd party support and stops just pumping out rehash after rehash of Zelda, Mario and Donkey Kong...then I think their next console will be their last. They caught lightning in a bottle with the original Wii by appealing to casuals and people who otherwise don't play videogames, but that shit isn't happening again.

So Nintendo...get some 3rd party support, make a console that is at least on par power wise with Sony and Microsoft's next system, and ditch the silly ass gimmicks.

Otherwise, you'll soon be going the route of Sega.

San Andreas, hands down.

A 10+ year old game that still offers more shit to do than GTA V.
