@WarGameJunkie: I know. And it's because most gamers don't have taste. It's like every time these annual games come out they hold a bowl out and say, "More repetitive crap please!".
@willhouse4: I mean from a narrative point of view. The whole point of the series is the narrative over the gameplay. Everyone knows that (Since every single game ends off with a massive cliffhanger).
Also, the gameplay isn't even that good once you played it for the 6th time in a row. It was fresh in AC1, AC2, AC: B, AC: R, AC:III, and AC:IV. But then after Liberations, Freedom Cry, Rogue, and Unity it became the same old same old. By the time Syndicate came around no one from the first one really cared. I remember even Kevin Van Ord who used to be one of the BIGGEST Assassin's Creed fan since the start on this site said this about Syndicate when it first showed at E3, and I quote, "It's just Assassin's Creed, and I can't believe I have this thing on my arm and I'm saying this." (Mind you he had a tattoo of the logo from Brotherhood).
@deedfakey: Yeah but most Knightly and Samurai Documentation didn't even survive to the modern era. There are countless kings, princesses, and knight-like figures across Europe, Asia, and Africa that don't have docs due to them being lost or damaged.
@Jarrkha: I would argue every 3 to 4 years. Just look at games like GTA5, Skyrim, and Witcher. Those games come out very few and far between. And people are still playing them in mass. Because they tried to be good instead very, very, very, very, VERY, LONG!
@BeefoTheBold: YES!!!!! As a massive AC fan since one. This series has overstayed its welcome more than 007 movies, MCU movies, FNAF games, Dynasty Warrior games, and even EA sports games.
To make it worse AC3 was technically supposed to be the last one. And they never really made a good enough reason to stay afterward. At least with the MCU they give a whole point the the phase. With AC they're just like "But wouldn't it be cool thou?" as their main argument.
And to answer that question as of late. No Egyptian, Viking, Greek, and British gangster Assassins would not be cool.
@deedfakey: A Retainer is a Samurai. Retainer just means that he is under a master directly as a low-paid Samurai, instead of being a land owner Samurai like a Daimyo. You can be a Samurai and a retainer like how you can be a knight and a Retainer.
It's pretty much the difference between being an official doctor with a doctorate who works under an older doctor as a nurse. Or an official doctor with a doctorate who works independently from a doctor.
You can see "Retainer", as "Temp worker Samurai" Samurai without all the cool political benefits (Same thing with knights).
