@Pedro: Just seemed like there were more ads and coverage in the months before the first Hellblade released. I haven't been seeing much about the new one, and it's coming out in a week.

They really are dropping the marketing ball here. The first game seemed to have more money behind it when the studio was independent. Like MS is nervous about drawing too much attention to it after the Redfall and Starfield backlash. Game will probably be good and I hope it does well, but it's hard not to be pessimistic right now.

It's really frustrating to watch. Like, two solid developers make two DC live-service games that bomb, an unproven developer makes a single-player Harry Potter game with no DLC that OUTSELLS COD; and these big-brain overpaid millionaires sit around in their super-yachts saying, "imagine how much money we would have made if that Harry Potter game had been live-service".

How does one fail so far upwards like this? How does it fucking happen?

I am glad they figured an agreement for compensating they players, but this will probably an mtx storefront like most modern sports games.

If this pans out, those are better specs than I would have guessed.

I know all anyone could talk about in the trailer was the bad haircut, but it's the animations in general that have me worried. There's a scene where the character jumps and just sort of pops into the air, then lands with a very stiff tumble that looks straight out of gen 6. If the game was a year off, that would be fine, but this thing is supposed to release in a couple months. I'm not expecting a finished product. Hope I'm wrong, because I'd be down to futz around the Star Wars universe for a bit.

I don't know what y'all are so upset about. The problem with the live-service elements of the last game was that they weren't tremendous. Next time, they will be.

Get hype.

Been a few months since I beat anything... Titanfall 2 I think. I enjoyed it a lot, and still play the multiplayer off and on. Campaign was kinda short but had a lot a variety. That mission where you can instantly jump back and forth between two time periods was a real standout. Good platforming for an FPS, though I wish the wallrun was a bit more limited. Like, you can keep your feet off the ground for a looong time once you get good. In Mirror's Edge, it still feels like you just did some impressive acrobatics, but in Titanfall, walls are just ,like, part of the sidewalk. Probably my only complaint though, and its not even really much if a flaw, just a preference.

9 overall. Great game, deserves a sequel.

@girlusocrazy: You got the situation pretty well figured out. Folks on the internet are on a constant watch for something to be breathlessly concerned about, and "the kids" are an easy target. I do think smartphones are hindering their social skills a bit, but it's overblown. There's good and bad too it, the internet will always try to remind you about the bad.

Just remember folks, you are not the first old person to worry about kids these days.

@Pedro: Unlike the last few Nintendo consoles, third party actually sells well on Switch. But the point is, Switch would give developers an excuse to spend less of their budget just on graphics. Then they could port the game to the other consoles with higher resolution and frame rates, maybe even ray tracing.

Ideally this would lead to shorter development cycles, fewer studio closures, and a wider variety of games.
