@FelipeInside: because they're are plenty of things I hated about Windows 10

Fair enough. I thought you downgraded just because you didn't see improvements.

What did you hate btw?

It took literally twice as long to boot. Applications were slower to load, the whole OS felt less responsive than 7. Background CPU usage was much higher leading to high temperatures and lower battery life. Was this an upgrade? I had the same issue and then did a clean install (reset) and everything works fast. It does take a few more seconds to boot and shutdown than Win8 though. MS know about this and will fix in upcoming patches.

I don't like the interface at all, I much preferred the transparency of 7. This is up to personal taste of course. I used to turn transparency off (Aero) anyway cause it would make the OS slower.

I hate the new settings system and how windows update now gives you no control. It decides to randomly restart for you... There's an option to schedule the restart times.

Couple these with privacy concerns and I really don't want to use it. It won't go on my personal laptop, work laptop or desktop for a long time. The data collection options can be turned off.

I'll point out some things on your post in case you want to try it again in the future.

Yes it was an upgrade, that was the main selling point of windows 10 - quick and easy install. If it only works properly on a clean install then Microsoft have made a mistake since most users will not be doing that.

The scheduling of restarts doesn't really work - windows picks a time itself so either you don't realise and your PC turns itself off, or it gets scheduled for the middle of the night and never happens. With windows 7 I can install updates and then next time I turn off the PC it automatically installed them - windows 10 doesn't seem to do this? It seems you have to either wait for the time it chose or explicitly tell it to restart and update. IIRC you also couldn't disable certain updates?

Sure, there are some options to turn off the dodgy spyware/botnet settings, but you shouldn't have to. And to be honest I bet there are plenty more hidden in there that you can't turn off. Windows 10 has already shown that it resets to default settings when you're not looking anyway - e.g. turning off anti virus lasts a short amount of time and then windows decides to turn it back on. I just don't trust it anymore since it doesn't let the user make their own decisions.

Buy proper headphones from a decent audio company and a separate mic (maybe a boom like the modmic or just a desktop mic).

AKG, Audio Technica, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser and Shure are a few examples of good headphone manufacturers. Aim for open back headphones to get good positioning in games.

Personally I'd recommend the Sennheiser HD500 series, AKG K612 pro or Beyerdynamic DT880 as the best value.

EA seem to really enjoy taking great franchises and running them into the ground.

I installed it on my laptop with an i5, 8GB ram and 250GB SSD.

It took literally twice as long to boot. Applications were slower to load, the whole OS felt less responsive than 7. Background CPU usage was much higher leading to high temperatures and lower battery life.

The excessive attempts to be user friendly just come across at patronising and take away any control. It's like using an iPhone.

Couple these with privacy concerns and I really don't want to use it. It won't go on my personal laptop, work laptop or desktop for a long time.

Some people like it, but personally I didn't get a single improvement so I went back to 7.

@kraken2109: Well I think for 2 extra "physical" cores paying $100-150 more is worth it...

Especially since DX12 already appears to benefit from it.

Personally I think it's worth waiting to see how DX12 works in the real world. At the moment not many games benefit from that many cores, and unless you have dual top end cards you're gonna be GPU bottlenecked anyway.

It seems if your a gamer and looking for the best bang it'd still be best to go with the 5820K, it's only $20 more than the 4790k at micro center. The extra cores will also help with DX12.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/9112/exploring-dx12-3dmark-api-overhead-feature-test/3

~6 cores of course is a best case scenario for DirectX 12 – it’s the least likely to be CPU-bound – and we see first-hand the incredible increase in draw call throughput by switching from DirectX 11 to DirectX 12 or Mantle.

~While the gains from 2 to 4 cores are rather significant, increasing from 4 to 6 (and with a slight bump in clockspeed) is much more muted, even with our most powerful cards.

The CPU might not cost much more, but the motherboards are quite a lot more expensive.

Make sure its 120 or 144hz if it for gaming. Ive recently got a 144hz monitor and would never go back now to 60hz. If I was you I would get a 144hz monitor for gaming and TV to watch TV and movies. I got Asus vg27he and it was only £300. My other tv is too big to fit in same room on my desk so looking for a TV for Consoles and films. Just use the monitor purely for gaming as its rubbish for everything else.

As far as I'm aware there are no TVs that will accept an input signal of higher than 60Hz.
