CONFIRMED: Final Fantasy XV Delayed Again!

[UPDATE] As of August 15th, Final Fantasy XV has officially been pushed back to November 29th. The delay is apparently to allow the team more time to polish the game and conduct quality tests to assure the game doesn't require a day one patch when it ships.

[Original] According to a recent artical on Gamenesia, Final Fantasy XV has been delayed yet again.

According to a source in GameStops upper management, new promotional material has been delived to there stores across the US, with an issue that they're not to be put up until August 14th, that claim the game has been pushed from it's current September 30th release, to November 29th.

They claim this source has been correct on multiple occasions in the past including leaking the release date and trade-in deals for the New 3DS, as well as the release date for EA's Star Wars Battlefront.

That will annoy the hell out of me. It's inly been the past two days that my hype has started coming back for the game.

On a more important note, when can I download the game's OST? That's actually worth money, unlike the game itself.

I don't think a 2 month delay is going to help the shit looking gameplay. I hope it ends up being a great game, but I'm not holding my breath.

game needs to put out a good demo before it launches to erase that last one.

If this is true, then what a waste of money to throw a show to release a date for the crowd when it might not be the case.

to be fair they also confirmed that it was launching in september. Things can change :)

Rather play pokemon. ffvs looks "Meh" for a game with such a long development time. Starting to think it's a case of how the game is than anything else which is causing the delay.

Looks like they're having trouble porting it to Xbone. Might as well be trying to get it to run on an iPhone.

Really dumb if true, not that I was getting it anyways, but I feel they need to get this out ahead of the holiday release schedule, not in the midst of it. With games coming out like Titfanfall 2, Battlefield 1, Dead Rising 4, The Last Guardian, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4, Deus Ex, Bioshock and Batman and Dead Rising Collections, Skyrim re-release, Madden, NBA 2K, Fifa, Pro Evolution, X-Com 2, Mafia III. Who knows maybe Capcom will do an RE collection on disc for RE 4-6. Heck, Rise of the Tomb Raider will release on PS4 before FFXV ever gets out.

Not to mention, as far as in Japan, Persona 5 will be releasing all by itself right as TGS kicks off and I hope it totally blows away any JRPG starved gamers and totally steal the scene there with FFXV needing to somehow make a better case afterwards. Also, this puts the game now in about 11 weeks away from Persona 5's international release outside Japan, nearly cutting down that uncontested open window by half.

Maybe they should just delay it until some slow time next year.

they also said it was going to be a PS3 exclusive, delay it enough and anything can happen

anyhow, I wish Persona 5 got an NX port too, it would be such a humbling experience for the Final Fantasy series if that happened

A 3 month delay is not fixing that broken combat.

Well, I watched a gameplay of one of the demos and the combat was kinda meh. I don't know maybe the person playing it didn't know what he was doing, not to mention the demo they showed at E3 was horrible and bad presentation of the game.

So if they delay it I will have no issue as I have a lot of other games to play and might hold until next year for it.

A delay cannot save this mess of a game. The deviation is so great and the results epically awful. If this game turns out to be great I would be surprised.

From what I have seen and played of this game it was disappointing. I don't see much changing when it's out.

Context is everything. Compare the development time to Witcher 3 to the decade-plus development time spent on FFXV. Given how long this game is taking to get made, and how little SE has to show for it, it's understandable for people to feel jaded.

pretty cool, they are delaying it just to add in a proper PS4 Neo mode. Maybe that version will be the one that actually reflects their vision and has acceptable performance (60fps) during gameplay.

This game is going to rate like suicide squad.

There is already a good demo, it was released with FF Type-0

This would have been sad news if it hadn't transpired in recent months that the game is going to be a DLC-riddled melee-based sausage-fest. I won't be touching this game unless it gets rave reviews across the board.

I doubt a delay will do much to change a game that looks worse with every trailer/demo.

there is no context, all we ever had was a title and some concept characters. that clearly got halted for FF13-2 , FF13-3 and prioritising FF14 remake.

I also can't believe people are slamming FF15 combat, when the Witcher series has generally very shallow and bad combat. (equally). many more factors involved, but people need perspective here.

Yeah, ff14 Realm Reborn had a lot to do with ff15 having such a awful long dev time. 15 was essentially halted to divert teams to rebuilding ff14 from scratch, and it paid off, honestly.

Might as well delay it until 2017 at this point, I got lots of games and stuff catching up to do anyways. I always rather have 99.8% complete game then a buggy mess.
