Missing Star Ocean. But otherwise, not too bad.

No love for Dead Space Remake, Dead Island 2, Robocop: Rogue City, Everspace 2, WH40K Darktide, they only know how to praise what trends and not one iota of critical conviction to stick up for that hidden gem flying under the radar.

Cyberpunk should not be allowed on the list, idc if they did good job on DLC.. that slot should go to a game that actually released this year

actually pisses me off seeing cyberpunk listed.. game launched in such a wonky state, give that spot to a smaller developer that actually made a good game that released this year, like pizza tower

I disagree with Cyberpunk being on the list. Great DLC, but it's not a 2023 game.

Yeah it's a solid selection. CP2077 is debatable. Phantom Liberty did release this year and didn't need any major patching. It was good too...worth a play (though i'm not a fan of the Alien Isolation section). But expansions generally don't put a game on the map for GOTY and extensive patching shouldn't either.

For me it wins by default though as..er...i havent played any of the others. Man i have some heavy lifting ahead of me. Zelda, BG3, Octopath 2 and Hi Fi Rush (which i bought in the last sale) are all on my list.

For switch games though, I think i'm going to hold off on buying any more until the switch 2 arrives. Then get one around launch to go with MP4, Pikmin, Luigis Manison, TOTK, Rabbids Xcom 2 and a few others.

Baldur’s Gate III seems like a really good choice for GotY given all that I’ve seen and heard about the game. Really looking forward to playing it myself. Going to see how things shake out for it at the VGA’s. 😎

It's ok. Looks like they just took what's popular and called it the best like all other major gaming websites, though. Hitman Freelancer and Octopath Traveler 2 were a bit surprising though.

Don't like when remasters are included in such lists. They really don't belong there.

Most of the games in the list are lame and boring. Hitman and HifuRush, lol. No Lies of P, Hogwarts, or even Starfield.

Who the heck write these top 10 articles for GameSpot? Not going to read these as they are devoid of logic.

I agree. Gamespot can say that Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty is the best dlc for 2023 and I would be fine with that, but definitely not in the top 10 games of the year list.

Remember that there is no universal criteria for Game of the year.

starfield has crashed almost every play through kicking me out of the g ame when I enter a load screen.

Of course these games are amazing to play and you should also try this game Asphalt Nitro.

LOL, wut? Spider-Man 2 has been a documented buggy dumpster fire. Spider-Man 2 and TLOU 1 for PC are the buggiest games released this year along with BG3.

@Litchie: My contributions won't make any difference. The list is a joke. Cyberpunk is buggy as hell even after the update. The list ignores a lot of quality games released this year.

Time is the most respected magazine renowned the world over written by professionals. And no buggy games in the top 10 list.

Man, what's up with the neglecting Hogwarts Legacy from GS? It's a solid HP game we've ever had in a very long time.

Never heard of them, I simply don't take any review seriously and very even read a review, If i'm interested in a game I will watch gameplay videos to get my info.

I think Spiderman 2 is the biggest failure this year and cows would be hurting over that, and it also went 0/7 at that shitty awards show lol.
