[Classic Mode] has all the settings dialed into what the experience was like if you’ve played the original Mafia. so that’s great for the hardcore fans to experience the game at that level with the same driving controls, the police reacting to your infractions the same way. And then we go all the way to experience the story, you can dial all that stuff back.

Theres classic mode that make it play like original Mafia.

I bet it'll change a few things like getting pulled over if you go over the speed limit, ect.. but it's not gonna do stuff like add recoil, bullet damage and re-design encounters to compensate for the more challenging gameplay that would bring.

Gameplay was never strong point of Mafia as oppose to its oscar worthy story and its 40s atmosphere. but yeah im not expecting remake to be better or even close to original.

btw, did you liked Mafia 2?

it was also great if not better than original so im expecting it to be Mafia 2 quality.

Mafia 1's combat was great. You couldn't auto-pilot the combat, like you can in popamole games. You lost a lot of health when shot and the guns had a lot of kickback to them. You can also get 'stun-locked' from a single shotgun blast, which meant you were as good as dead and a single shotgun blast from close range usually just killed you right then and there. Same thing with tommy gun bursts.

Every story-related combat encounter in Mafia 1 was intense and memorable. The encounters were usually set up incredibly well, and combat was lethal so you had to pay attention. In the fourth mission you were fighting a handful of guys at a shitty motel, and it felt great when you managed to pull it off. In the fourth mission of Mafia 2 you're gunning down policemen by the dozen, and it barely registers with you because the cover system is basically doing the fighting for you. Just pop those moles at your leisure and proceed to watch the next cutscene.

I remember when Mafia 2 was released, many people (mostly console casual crowds) complain about not being enough open world like GTA as they were expecting it to be GTA set in historical setting. they complain so much that Mafia 3 went full GTA clone ie trash.

Many of GTA fans never played Mafia and now 2k cartering towards GTA fans.

as a result Mafia series ruined forever.
