Variety is the spice of life. Personally I LOVE a good SP experience along the lines of Deus Ex, Dishonoured, Prey etc but the lasting enjoyment of a good multiplayer game can't be understated.

I feel the current qualities of each is very good.

I was going to buy Valhalla but got it for my birthday, so i will start that sometime next week maybe, and won't spend any money on any games until maybe the middle of next year as i know of nothing big or exciting coming out.

Valhalla is a great game and I'm really enjoying it at the moment.

Be sure to spend a lot of time in Norway first, as you can find lots of great gear there that will help you on the rest of your journey ;)

Are you playing it on the new Series X or Xbox One X?

1X, i don't plan on buying a SeX until i can walk into a store next year and buy one over the counter. Not sure how it performs on it, but Origins and Odyssey (some glitches cost me 10's of hours though) performed well on it.

Funny thing is that I don't even play online games and the Xbox still has a lot more to offer than the PS.

I can't see myself paying to play a single player game unless i'm going to be able to put 100+ hours into it (Witcher 3). I'll gladly buy Cyperpunk for the single player campaign.

Well the reason Sony is focusing on single player 1st party games is probably cuz a much higher profit margin as they don't have to go through licensing, commissions on platform, etc. That's probably why they don't necessarily have to have a breakout record sale and can bundle their games easily with PS5. Probably also why there's not a lot of their 1st party games on PC.

Not sure what Microsoft operating costs are with their Xbox Game Pass, but I'm pretty sure they can do it too if they have some really good 1st player games. Only time will tell if they can match Sony.

I rarely play SP. Seems boring fighting predictable AI that will always be weaker than my character. Multiplayer really levels the playing field and makes kills much more satisfying.

Xbox is fully focusing on single-player games. Starfield, Avowed, Fable, The Initiative's AAAA Game, The Elder Scrolls VI, the games of the Arkane studios, idSoftware, Tango, etc., Halo Infinite campaign, Hellblade, Psychonauts 2, etc. What multiplayer games are they making? Halo Infinite's multiplayer mode, and, uh, I guess the eventual next Gears if you want.

Why is everyone saying Gamepass has mostly multiplayer and Microsoft is forcing multiplayer on people. Most of the games I've seen have been singleplayer or singleplayer + multiplayer.
