Honestly what is the point of this system? Why wouldn’t you get an xbox one X for this price?
I think at 99 dollars this woupd make sense but no one who is worth their weight in myrrh would buy this.

It's an upgrade for xbox one S owners if you own a xbox one x then the series X is for you it's not rocket science.
@sheevpalpamemes: Your trolling style can be fun at times when you post but your thread skills need some working.
@xantufrog: when the s is in stock, it’ll
Stay in stock for weeks while the other 2 sell out in seconds.
@rrjim1: because they’re making less of them. Plus people are stupid.
OK you got me, that's really solid evidence.
Phil Spencer is the failure, said it was a 1440p console, nope. Most games run at 1080p max, seen a lot of DF vids, shocking.
> Creates 1440p console

Yup, because it can’t do 1080p amirite?
Where did MS claim it was a 1080p console?
MS fans accept and defend shit all the time, like Nintendo fanatics.
@Archangel3371: explain to me why series s’s were in stock for weeks at walmart while every other console was selling out in record times during the highest demand for consoles in history during a pandemic. Or why they can barely hit 1080p yet are toted as a 1440p machine, or why they cost as much as an xbox one x when the x eats it alive?

Where did I say they did?
@sheevpalpamemes: Not even going to waste my time with such an obvious tryhard troll like you. First you have to validate this garbage thread anyway. 🤷♂️

Is this conversation just going in circles?
Your reply to me claims that Xbox Series S can be positioned as a 1080p console.
I'm simply asking where they claimed such a thing? As clearly I'm refering to the fact that MS claimed it was a 1440p console to begin with.
@Archangel3371: you’re trolling and shit posting at this point. Either counter the valid claims or stop acting like a 10 year old.

Uhm, two problems with that comment. 1, you can play them at 1080P as well. And 2, you do realize they output HDMI, right? You know, like what gaming monitors have on the back of them? Who says you have to play console on TV? In about 2006 I started playing consoles exclusively on an LCD monitor. It's not hard to push a button to switch input.
1440P is the resolution used by the best gaming displays.
@eoten: so buy a gaming monitor for your console?
Lol wow!
Do they sell 77 inch 1440p gaming monitors?

So, PS5 and Series X tout 4K120 and both struggle just to deliver 4K30. Are those failed consoles too? Most games that advertise 4K gameplay are using dynamic resolution that basically hovers at 1200P or less. Also, the One X, at least not in any of the actual benchmarks I have seen, does not eat the Series S alive. You really are just talking out of your ass to troll, aren't you?
I know this is a troll thread, but I do have an issue with the Series S. If it had a UHD drive, I could see a use for it. That was the same use I had for the One S. It’s a 4K Blu-ray player that can play the occasional game. The Series S has a very limited ssd as far a capacity is concerned. And the expansion card costs damn near as much as the console. Then we’re already dipping below 1080p on current titles. And in a world where 4K TVs are cheaper than 1080p TVs ever were, thats just too many strikes imo.
If someone wants a console that’s gonna last then through the generation, avoid the Series S. But if it had a UHD drive, I could see a use for the console. But when the digital PS5 is just $100 more, it makes no sense to buy the Series S

There's already people making adapters for the expansion cards that allow you to use any NVMe of your choice. Stick the smallest NVMe inside and it's barely larger than the stock card. The one thing I like about it is that it's fast swappable so if someone wanted to put all their shooters on one, all their RPGs on the other instead of trying to cram everything into one, deleting and redownloading as they go, it's an option.
The Series S is also very simple to take apart, much easier than the Series X, and inside is a rather common consumer grade NVMe that people have already put into their PCs and pulled data off of. I'd imagine it won't be long before someone figures out a way to clone that data to a larger drive.
But in my case, the reason I am considering the Series S is to play a lot of previous gen and XBLA arcade stuff. Stuff like the Rare replay stuff, OG Xbox stuff, with some big improvements over the original system. For that the 512gb is plenty. And since it does do everything an X does, just at a lower resolution which seems to be true, and I have gaming monitors to use which are better suited for gaming than living room televisions. Besides, any Series S/X title that'll be available on PC, which at least is all the exclusives, will be played on my gaming PC. The S is a much better fit for my setup than an X, if I wanted to get a secondary platform for gaming.

You say $100 like it's nothing. To some people an extra $100 is a lot of money. And if you go for the Digital PS5 then the size of the SSD is still an issue. You're going to burn through that 650GB pretty quickly.
Smart delivery means that when you download a game to the XSS it's a lot smaller that the 4K version so the size of the SSD is not so much of a problem. My daughter has loads of games installed on hers.
And to be honest I've hooked up her XSS to my LGCX OLED and I can't really tell the difference between my X1X and her XSS everything still looks amazing.

Though you can hook up a console to a monitor, nobody does it.
