Far more interested in a 5070 card. I think I'll get far more value this way.

As largely a PC gamer with a decent machine and RTX 3080, there is no 30fps 'dealbreaker' for me. Then again, I also play old consoles and emulators. Some of these older games are 30 fps and I'll play them still. It's not ideal but you can get used to 30, as long as it's a decent stable 30.

I've recently been playing Cyberpunk with Path Tracing on. But to get there I needed to change the resolution to 1440P, balanced DLSS and I locked the fps to 40 for a consistent frame rate. I hate the idea of being 70 fps one minute and then 50-40 fps the next.

Only two more to go for me. Loving it!

Also nice to see there are some British Actors in this show. Never really heard of Ella Purnell before this. I like her even more now, especially as she's British. And British Actor/Comedian Matt Berry is perfect for the Voice of the Mr Handy robots.

'Escape from its colonial past' lol. Lara Croft is a fictional British Upper Class aristocratic adventurer who's home of 'Croft Manor' has many historical artifacts obtained by her forebears, probably when Britain had an Empire. However, non of this is mentioned in the games specifically.

However, in the games, while Lara might pick up the odd trinket here and there, she doesn't leave the tombs she's 'Raided' with sacks full of 'finders keeps' artifacts to display in her mansion back in Blighty.

Just another one of those 'they're trying to cancel culture, cancel history' conspiracy stories that seems to be going around like wildfire these days.

Retro games, and when I say Retro, I mean 'Retro', games that I remember playing from my childhood in the 1980's and 90's. Modern games it's usually either racing or some type of RPG, but with the skill level turned down. It's not relaxing if it's too hard.

As a PC gamer, Strategy games like Rome Total War 2, or 4x strategy games like Civ 6 are my 'just one more turn' games.

Ok what do you regard as cpu demanding titles?

Open world games are CPU demanding. Anything that's open world is going to be CPU demanding, or rather CPU limited. Lots of things going on which means the game isn't just processing frames (Yes, CPU's process 'frames' that are sent to the GPU to 'render'), it's also processing a huge amount of game logic. Open worlds are massive and packed with details, from buildings and trees to weather effects and AI characters. The CPU needs to manage the placement and behaviour of all these elements, which can be a heavy workload.

Cyberpunk is extremely CPU demanding on the PC, because as soon as you turn on RT, not only does this put strain on the GPU but RT also adds work to the CPU. The CPU still needs to work out where all the rays are going (known as the 'BVH'). RT isn't a 100% GPU task.

Don't kid yourself about what this PS5 Pro will be capable of. This is just a PS4 Pro all over again.

These consoles aren't meant for the likes of people on these forums who have an understanding about frame rates and performance. They are meant for the mainstream gaming audience. This audience only wants to see buzzwords like 4K, 8K and HDR (they probably don't really know what even they mean fully).

With the exception of the people on this board, most console gamers have no idea what a 'framerate' is.

Looking forward to hearing the feedback from these 10-20 people in the world who actually own a Steamdeck.

More like 1.62M. However, I'll say it again, it's a PC. Just a PC in handheld form, you don't need to come out with the numbers of how many Switches with its 10 year old old weak hardware have been sold in comparison.

Most people who bought a Deck, already have a main gaming PC.

The cpu needs to put the GPU to work. Claiming that a 8 core CPU is incapable of smooth 60fps framerates is just a really, really weak excuse for poor coding.

No, it's a hardware limitation. yes, 8 cores, but only running at 3.85GHz fixed clocks with power limits, and this is still only an old Zen 2 processor. AMD on PC will be Zen 5 later in 2024.

It's only going to be 30 and maybe perhaps a 40fps mode on a PS5 Pro. No chance is it going to be 60.
