I get that these lists are subjective. But there's a strong argument for Resident Evil Remake being the best remake of all time.

It's the only remake I can think of that elevates everything about the original game with zero compromise. And it's just flat out a great game.

Considering some of the other choices you went with, makes the omission that much more glaring.

@aspeeedyninja:

Main menu > Challenges > Trials.

Characters have either 1, 2, or 3 sets of combo trials, depending on how long they've been in the game.

And on that note, if you haven't been through the menu enough to even find that, then you should really dive through the menus. There are tons of awesome features and options.

@Gelugon_baat:

It's permanent.

SFV is an ever growing game that gets updates throughout the year, but there's always a big update once a year. Rather than just calling this update season 3, they re-branded it as Arcade Edition to give the game another go with reviews and fans.

But yeah, this free update isn't going away. Capcom keeps everyone on the same version with this game. You'll always get the modes, features, balance patches, bug fixes, etc. that everyone else gets, for free.

Just to be clear, this doesn't mean you get all content for free. If you own a vanilla license of the game, that doesn't mean you automatically get the season 1 and 2 DLC characters for example.

Great comments section.

Fighting games grow over time guys. Always have. Some of them for 5+ years. And its never come for free, as these things do cost money to develop.

Back in the day, we had to buy a whole new game to get the new content. Then they moved on to expansion pack style version-upgrades. Now in many FGs we can choose to buy some things bundled or some things individually, which I think is a great improvement.

I do find it funny how people will cry about fight money being a grind, when previously, and even now in some FGs, an in-game method for getting new content isn't even available. What other FGs even allow you to purchase a newly released character with in-game currency?

Now I know some of you are thinking "but Conan! When I bought that new game, or that version, it came with everything available at the time!"

Which is true! However, EVERYTHING back then isn't the same as EVERYTHING now. Previous SF games didn't have plenty of new costumes coming out on a monthly basis. SFV already has more stages than any SF game before it, and the game still has 3+ years of growth ahead of it. You're not paying more for less. There's just much more content than there was before.

Remember that game Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo that everyone loves so much? That game had 16 characters, 16 stages, a handful of color swaps for each character, zero costume changes, an arcade ladder, and VS mode... that's it. And I bought 3 different full priced versions of SF2 before buying that one.

Just seems a lot of you are trying to apply the modern shady MTX argument to a genre that works differently and has actually seen improvement for the consumers because of it.

If you bought SFV on day 1, and haven't spent a single cent since, you're still on the same version as everyone else, receiving the same modes, features, bug fixes, balance patches, etc. and you're still in the same online player pool.

Now don't get me wrong.

If you want to gripe that SFV was super slim right out the gate, and that season 1+2 characters should've been given to the early adopters with this AE upgrade? Cool, I'd agree.

And if you want to argue that the pricing and/or FM system should be tweaked a bit differently? Absolutely, I have my own ideas on that as well.

But to sit there and gripe that this game charges for new content, something that this genre has always done, something that it must do, something that every growing game in this genre still does today? Seems you would either be ignorant of the genre, or complaining just to complain.

There's still room for improvement on how these things are handled, but to expect it all for free goes outside the bounds of being a wise consumer and far into unrealistic territory.
