No, I can still get behind a good game if the character designs are horrid.

For example, I think everyone is God Eater looks like fucking trash. All the males looks like D-tier J-pop losers and all the females are just one monster swipe away from being completely naked. I hate everything about the designs in this game, but it's still a pretty fun game in the end.

Oh yeah, Chaz and Maroxad.

I would make that HL2 thread, though in order to thoroughly shit on the game with accuracy, I'd want to replay it again... and the last time I attempted a replay I couldn't even push myself through it. It's just that boring.

Plus Uninspiredcup breaks character and gets all serious with the debate skills when HL2 is under attack. And quite frankly, it weirds me out lol.

It feels weird these days to play Half Life 2 in its original vanilla format these days.

Whenever I revisit HL2, I usually have some sort of silly mod like SMOD redux turned on. It's just a lot more fun and hilarious when you can instant gib a headcrab by kicking it into a wall.

Playing some God Eater recently, and the entire game is dumb. Humanity is on the brink of extinction, and our only hope lies in the hands of a bunch of shitty jpop teenagers who must fight giant monsters with absurdly big weapons. Also, half the cast are complete idiots, everyone dresses like a clown, and pretty much all of the women are half naked. This game actually sounds like a wacky good time, except they expect you take all of this crap seriously. I know this is pretty typical of JRPGs, but man, it's just kind of depressing. The lack of self-awareness in many Japanese games truly sucks.

On one hand. If you are fighting bigass creatures, you are probably going to need huge weapons to make any real penetration.

On the other hand. The character dont even look remotedly capable of wielding such weapons.

It would be great if jRPG heroes that are wielding oversized weapons would look more like this,

But yeah, I cant really take most jRPGs seriously at all. The dumb plots just don't do it for me.

Nah, they all gotta look like this.

What? She is totally dressed fine for battle. These are basically the official battle fatigues for the military to fight against vicious monsters.

Also, no, she does not need to wear any kind of bra while she does this. Everyone in the game world finds this completely acceptable, so don't be crazy and try to question it. She will also never fucking fix her skirt strap in a million years. Please take all this anime drama very seriously.

Wow this was unexpected. Just last year, everyone at all the gaming websites (this one too) was super pissed at Konami. There were a few articles if I remember correctly about problems going on with Konami and Kojima and it seemed like Konami was in the wrong. When MGSV finally did come out (by the way I saw this Ground Zeroes mission back in 2014 so yeah, the writing must have been on the wall as it were) and people played it all the way through, they were upset by the obvious cut content (also on youtube) and the forcing of repeating old missions on harder difficulty to continue with the story. This lead to further speculation that Konami really was rushing this game and Kojima was trying his best to make his game the way he wanted it. I mean with that mission 51 on youtube, it has a better ending than what we actually got so I really doubt that was just Kojima himself scrapping it because he didn't want it.

It was all #FUCKONAMI last year. It was the thing to do.

Now it seems folks are more open-minded about what happened and, going by this thread, even bashing Kojima himself.

What a difference a year makes.

If by open minded, you mean a bunch of crazy conspiracy theorists, then sure. The Kojima bashing makes zero sense. All the evidence and general fuckery points to Konami being the ones who screwed the pooch. We won't get the full story about this situation for a long time, so people are entitled to believe whatever. However, if someone takes all the evidence and rumors that have accumulated up to this point, and they somehow see Konami as the victims, they are completely insane.

DMC4 so far is so much better than I remembered. I think I just had a serious stick up my ass last gen. Either that or I'm just extra thirsty for good action games right now. I just don't remember the gameplay being this good.

I might even be one of those assholes who likes DMC4 more than DMC3. Not gonna jump the gun on that just yet though lol.

The game plays totally fine when you're slicing up enemies. Everything else like level design, puzzles, platforming, pacing and the backtracking are completely abysmal.

I have a decent time playing DMC4 in the bloody palace, but I have zero desire to play through that campaign again.

It seems like a really bad idea to be playing it now, especially with the servers being super unstable.

If you get disconnected for whatever reason during gameplay, you lose your character and all the progress you made on a floor. It's really not worth the frustration to be messing with it at the moment.

Arkham Knight

It just plays so damn well compared to the games in the series. Honestly, it's very hard for me to go back to the older games. They just feel so bare bones in comparison. Yeah, the side content is very repetitive in Arkham Knight, but it easily has the best campaign.

@JangoWuzHere: For a number of reasons, what if, something happens to Earth in the next few centuries? Don't you wanna see Humanity colonizing other worlds? Yes the technology isn't advance yet to do so, but do you wanna see Humanity reaching for the stars in the distance future?

I'm not sure how putting people on mars is supposed to help that.

All the research and data we can collect on potentially colonizing other worlds can be accomplished by sending drones and rovers. We don't need actual boots on the ground for that.

At some point you are going to need a human being to step foot on one of those planets. Robots can only do so much and if worst case scenario happens where the Earth can no longer be habitable wouldn't you want to know that we have years of actual human experience on another rocky planet than just all of a sudden at a whim having to send millions not knowing exactly what might happen? You can take all the measurements you want from a billions of miles away, however at some point we will have to leave this planet and doing it with experience is a hell of a lot better than none at all.

They're already plans to establish colonies on mars by the 2030s. It's apparent we need actual people those planets, but we don't need them to go do research. The process of sending them there and back is far more expensive and wasteful.
