Yeah right, because Nintendo has such a proud history of supporting legacy hardware...
If the NX sells well, they'd be morons to divert studios to WiiU development, where the small install base punishes popular franchises. They'd drop it in a flash.
Seems a moronicly large number of consoles to make considering their history. They've only ever had one console that could move those kind of numbers, and at least part of the reason it was so successful for awhile was a shortage that drove publicity. The WiiU cost them dearly by over-producing the console, which led to them having to pay penalties on factory and component contracts they had to cancel, and warehouse fees to store the millions of machines with no buyer. And they produced, what, half that number? This isn't a sign of a Nintendo that has learned from past errors, nor one that is setting itself up for success.
If they have a legitimate hit on their hands then they'll look like geniuses. But honestly, how often has Nintendo read consumer interests THAT right? This reads more like an act of desperate faith than a calculated business strategy.
I played San Andreas from launch until GTA IV came out. Literally every week with a buddy. It'll always have a special place in my ole gaming heart, but V is the better game. And it's still growing.
Nah. Trying to pin blame on consoles is fanboy reasoning. Truth is the high end PC market is relatively small. If consoles disappeared tomorrow the PC industry would still focus on the lower midrange market, because they need that market to make a game successful.
If you have to pick one, it's gotta be MS at this point. An also ran in all three gens it's participated in, and only one competitive offering. It's also a completely ancillary product for its company, with its primary goal to be a brand ambassador for younger consumers. It would surprise absolutely no one of MS's continued drive to focus on core businesses of the company led to the XBOX being spun off or shut down. Frankly, investors would applaud the move.
Once you realize the other consoles weren't available online it kind of robs this of any real significance. Not that anyone should be looking for a WiiU resurgence at this point anyhow. Nintendo is just spinning wheels until the can get their next system launched.
