Does anybody here watch anime?
This place is called OT's Anime Discussion Thread for a reason.
Is death note an anime or a cartoon? Or both? Can I talk about cartoons here?
Death Note is Anime, it's a good Anime as well. The Netflix Death Note live action version is based on the Anime and if you have Netflix, check that out as well.
Anime is often called cartoons, it's the "Anime" name in disguise for cartoons in Japan. Sure why not, no harm in talking about Cartoons here :)
@davillain-: Davillain, you're too nice! I'm just fooling around :P. The live action film was decent, I think it gets more hate than it deserves because they deviated from the anime.
Has anyone seen Castlevania season 2? It's got superb animation and the story is good too.
I highly recommend seishun buta yarou. it reminds me of Monogotari tbh. one of the best anime of the season so far.
Netflix just got the steaming licence Neon Genesis Evangelion/End of Evangelion in HD time to watch you for like the 6th time
Netflix is also making a live action Cowboy Bebop 10 episodes hope it's actually good
It probably has been mentioned already but my fave Anime is “Sailor Moon” and also the reboots “Sailor Moon: Crystal” By far one of my greatest childhood memories. “I Am Sailor Moon, I will right all wrongs and triumph over evil...and you’re the worst kind of evil” LOL I love it :)
Any Black Clover fans here? I've read what's available of the Manga in English. I really love it. Just finished up watching episode 63. Decent animation for the most part. A little hard to follow during the in air fight scenes. The backgrounds were sloppy too imo.
Other than that I absolutely love One Piece also. lol
There's just something about Jojo that never fails to put a smile on my face. It's so over the top, ridiculous, and funny almost every episode.
I miss Studio Trigger's older anime. Gurren Lagann and Kill La Kill were awesome. SSSS.Gridman and Little Witch Academia just don't do it for me.
R U guys watching Endro? Its magical lolis doing funny stuff. Really cool!
lolis you say?
@uninspiredcup: Honestly, I feel the missing ingredient was Gohan (as he was in DBZ, before getting sidelined). But Broly is a good substitute.
Gohan brought something unique to the table, as one of the three main Saiyan characters along with Goku and Vegeta. But with Broly as that third Saiyan, that could make up for the loss of classic Gohan in some ways.

The series might have been better if as intended he became the hero. He makes a really good point about Gohan as well.
Guess in Super they try to use his intellectual prowess, but then basically throw it out the window, and suddenly turn Goku into the tactician at the end, because the plot needs it. To me TOP was the perfect use for him to be relevant again, they build up to it, then ignore it.
Been reading the manga version of super and in alot of respects it is better. For example after Battle of The Gods they turn Beerus into "grumpy uncle", where as in the manga version, he very much remains a dick. Toyotarō still images do a much better job of projecting the action than the flat limp animation work in the series. It isn't until Vegito pops up that it temporary jumps out of mediocrity, and then they seem to throw all their cards in the table for the final slot where it looks almost like a different show. Hope going forward they try to stick with Brolys deliberate retro look.

Yeah, I saw that video. And while I agree with much of it, I feel it isn't critical enough of Toriyama's writing, which are where the issues stem from. In the Buu Saga, he re-wrote Gohan into an adult character that felt very unlike the young Gohan we had known up until the Cell Saga. Hence why Gohan went from being the most popular character in the Cell Saga, to plummeting in popularity during the Buu Saga, at least in Japan (Gohan seems more popular outside of Japan). Toriyama essentially wrote him into a corner, where he's been stuck ever since.
I'm still way behind in Super, so I'm still not up-to-date on how his character develops. But so far, I've been disappointed with how Gohan is not only almost useless as a fighter, but how the show isn't making use of his much-touted intellectuality. He could be contributing either as a scientist/inventor (like Bulma) or a strategist/tactician (like Lelouch in Code Geass).
The retro-style art in the Broly movie looks better than the more modern-style art in the Super series. I also hope they stick with Broly's retro-style art, if they're planning a new season of Super.
