Before you think I'm freaking out over black injustice, hear me out.

We're in a pandemic, were told to stay indoors for months, rents are overdue, people have lost jobs, people are struggling to protect their families. People were only given 1200 in a stimulus check, very small compared to mega corporations. Suicide is at an all time high. Tensions before the pandemic are still here. Income inequality is becoming worse. Many Americans do not have great healthcare. We are about see the worst economic collapse since the great depression.

Fast forward to today. Riots, protests, looting all across America. It's absolute civil unrest in cities, mainly in the ghettos. I've seen the mayhem that is being ignored. George Floyd was the spark. The people are coming after anything that represents the elite. People are killing each over political differences. You think this is normal behavior? These all look like symptoms of a collapsing society, both morally and economically. This is the so called oppressed that we often make fun for complaining. The unheard is finally fed up.

Does anyone feel like the worst is yet to come?

Does your city have a large community in poverty? Soon they will be inspired to do the same. There's nothing for them to lose. Only when it comes into your neighborhood, just like mine has, is when it will feel real to you.

This year will certainly go down in history books. Between the world’s economy getting shut down from the pandemic started in Wuhan, and now the chaos created by police and lack of justice things are falling apart quick, especially in the states. I honestly cannot imagine how things will be back to normal anytime soon. You can’t just flip a switch on the brutalities that have taken place and pretend it didn’t happen, America is paying the price now.

Your post have key elements you would read in a history book, about a civilization about to collapse, or at least drastically change. It's pretty scary.

Sounds like Trump. It's always someone else's fault and he's doing just fine, best president ever [sheep baaing]

The current administration is absolutely responsible for fighting the virus in the worst, most uncoordinated manner possible, with every state doing whatever, leading to the US having a catastrophic number of cases and deaths, all at the hands of the administration. Where most nations are now on the exiting phase of the quarantine, the US is still neck deep into the storm and pretends things are over, probably cause it got too expensive.

The administration is also absolutely responsible for doing jack-all about police reform and letting the american institution, built on white supremacy, claim the life of another black person in a long list of black persons. Even now, the administration has failed its people by threatening to unleash the army on its own nation in order to preserve their institution of white supremacy.

You also probably shouldn't point fingers to people watching cnn when your main source for everything is fox news.

Nah, we've been here before a lot of times. This is mostly due to the lack of leadership, hence why things seem grim. Yes, they're awful but the current administrations' rhetoric make it seems down-right apocalyptic.

We'll recover, but first the clown needs to leave the white house forever and retire to his golfing estate while paying off hookers which he cheats on his ex-porn star/gold-digging wife.

An interesting article that relates to the thread: LINK

Politico: If the United States were a foreign country, American diplomats would follow a familiar playbook.

In public, they’d express “concern” about the unrest in the country– maybe even “deep” concern. They’d call on “all parties” to engage in “dialogue” to resolve disputes. They’d insist the government allow for “peaceful” protests and urge “restraint” by security forces. They’d denounce police attacks on journalists. They might even offer to mediate between the feuding parties.

In classified cables sent back home, they’d question the stability of the government. They’d look for signs of fractures among the ruling elites, and ponder whether the head of state would be willing to accept defeat in the upcoming election. Some would gather information about potential human rights violators. They’d elevate security at their embassy, mull issuing a travel warning and dust off contingency plans for evacuating themselves and other U.S. citizens.

But America is not a foreign country. It is home. And for U.S. diplomats, that means life at the moment is very strange.

The U.S. is on a slow decline into irrelevance but I don't think it'll "collapse." In the end, I hope a different administration takes over and rights the wrongs of this nation. Worst case scenario is that this administration or another will forgo reforms and go hard, stripping more rights and freedoms from Americans.

I gotta give you credit man. Even cultists have their limitations but you? You take it to the next level.

Trump's mishandling of the virus =/= Virus originating from China. Blame China all you want but it doesn't change how the Trump Administration ignored intelligence reports and other reports pertaining to the virus. 100,000 Americans are dead and close to 2 million are infected. The outbreak has caused our economy to crash, unemployment rates skyrocketing, and barely anything to subsidize the damage that many Americans are facing.

The Trump Administration has also dismissed and reversed many police reforms dedicated to stopping abuse. His inaction, combined with his support for using the military to enforce domestic laws and his, as well as your's and other's tolerance of police brutality, is what's causing the unrest.

Numerous outlets from all over the spectrum that are reliable in their reporting are reporting the same thing.

You're a disgrace as a human being and as an American.

Honestly I am ready for a Thanos snap. Hell I will volunteer. I'm so tired of people. But TBH I was feeling this way back in February, so whatever.

But to the rest of you, just shut the frack up and stop watching so much television. Stop perpetuating bullshit.

I don’t think the US is collapsing, this is probably temporary.

However, it is certainly natural that nations rise and fall this has always happened.

We are at the beginning of the fall of America has the hegemonic power, it’s been going on for about a decade.

Many here on GS will probably struggle to accept this fact but it’s clearly in progress.

I feel you. But if that were the case the riots would be happening in the rich neighbourhoods. And mostly they're not. These are people coming from outside the neighbourhoods to tear up the poor neighbourhoods. That could be just the start of it, of course. But to me it's too early to call this the oppressed standing up.

It's only a collapse if you are someone that wants it to stay at the status quo. To conservatives of the 1800s, no longer being able to have slaves was a collapse of their society. The more people are tired of the status quo, the more they will want for change.

At this point, I wish Trump would just start WW3!

Anyway, the work has stalled indeed very badly, but at the same time, I do believe the U.S will fix itself when it wants to. So I'm not all that worried.

@wervenom: It is when they have emboldened far-right, gun-loving groups in the US to do as they please and when they have exacerbated an already awful situation within the police institution.

I see we're at the stage where trumpers like you deflect and go "bLaMe oBaMa". Yeah, the US has been horribly racist and crap since time immemorial, but go ahead and blame the black man, you total non-racist.

Is it any different then emboldening far left terror groups?

Again it's always about race with you racist. If the US is horrible racist and crap then leave? Go to nations where whites are a minority and see if you enjoy those places more.

Wrong. And even if it was, they’re a great outlet unlike CNN, MSNBC, Vox, Huffpo, NowThis, NYT, WP, etc etc which only have an anti Republican/Trump narrative. ‘Doesn’t matter if it’s true, just vote blue’

I'm curious on the woke crowd in how they would handle a fair election later this year, should it not go the way they want.

Nobody is emboldening far left terror groups in one of the most right-slanted, conservative western countries, unless you eat up the drivel that fox news and trump spews, which conveniently brush anyone they don't like in broad strokes of "far left!!1" so that their cult following can bah accordingly.

There are countless presidents that have done jackshit for police reform even after massive scale protests like the LA riots of 92, yet you brought up Obama. Can you tell me why is that? Is it because you've conditioned to go 'blame obama' when someone criticizes your current government? Are you that mad still that he was elected?

Also I'm not even american and live in a country where the whites are not a majority. Your US-centrism is so dumb you can't fathom any other scenario? Keep throwing more auto-generated NPC statements that trumpers have been conditioned with.

@n64dd: The far right is out there killing people as cops or just plain shooters. Look up rightwing terrorism in the US and see how many lives the incels have claimed alone. Then look up how many people antifa have killed (hint: there are none).

Basically, go away with your nonsense.

Oh, **** I didn't say anything.

Yea, I believe America is going to go through a period of disturbances. I heard some parts of Florida might go underwater because of sea levels rising, I think 2025. I don't who is going to believe it or not but I'm going to believe it. Date your calendars for this event in 2025.

Antifa is a far left terrorist group praised by media and politicians alike. Right slanted conservative country? About 80% of news media is left of center. About 90% of our entertainment media is left are far left.

You specifically mentioned Trump in lite of recent events. It is moronic to blame the President for what local law enforcement does in a certain state. But since you were blaming Presidents for all the white on black violence let's not forget all the incidents that happened under Obama's watch. Trump is getting blamed for shit that you and your ilk would never mention under a Democratic president.

No I can't fathom why you would give two shits about living situations in a country you don't live in. But what this tells me you are an ill informed NPC who gets his commands from leftwing media. Talking about NPC statements is ironic since every single entity that supports this nonsense is giving almost the exact statements verbatim in a pathetic attempt to virtue signal to puppets such as yourself.

Most police homicide are justified. Most incels were not affiliated with any far right groups. You are making assumptions based off conspiracy theories.

Feels like everybody is just getting played, like our puppet strings being pulled by the media. Its election year and conveniently the media pushes white police brutality on a black man. I'm Canadian so it reminds me of Trudeau's blackface incident. Just my initial thoughts...I'm just a dude trying to make sense of things. I've been attack by my own friends for saying even slightly opposing views.

If you're Canadian then don't make pronouncements about what you don't know. There is a policing problem in regard to race issues. That is FACT!

I'll make pronouncements on whatever I want, that's the point of an open forum. And I don't say this sarcastically: that's why I have guys like you to inform me on such things I don't know.

Then if you don't know why do you state it's the media's fault. This isn't about just one incident. That was the one that lit the fuse but it's been building for awhile now.
