Best Version of Dark Souls 2: $37.50

I don't get why so many people on the Steam forum are complaining about the keyboard and mouse controls (the controller button prompts appearing is dumb though), if the game plays like shit no matter how you rebind the controls it's because the game isn't fucking designed for a keyboard.

I don't get why people suffer through awkward controls (through no fault of the developers) just to use a KB&M, I've seen people sounding smug that they used KB&M to play a racing game, like a complete lack of precision in every area is something to be proud of.

I'll wait for a under $10 sale, then I can use a trainer for god mode. :D

I'm having problems with them not sending me the key for the game despite them taking my money.

It's better for sure. Runs silky. keyboard somewhat still shitty. But miles better than DS1 port wise.

This game runs like a dream. Max settings, 1080p, 60 FPS. Haven't even seen it dip down to 59.

I'd like to take this moment to personally thank console users for participating in the paid $60 beta test of Dark Souls 2. Your ability to persevere through a sub-720p resolution, sub-30 FPS framerates, and abominably long load times will remain as testament to your continued service to PC gaming.

They also got to play the game before you.

It's a good port but really all From had to go was up after DS1 on pc, let's not get carried away with the master race garbage.

Yes, obviously I care greatly about how well Dark Souls sells on PC

However I have played RDR

I still like Demon Souls better than either Dark souls games. Either PS or XB version. Makes no difference to me, but my balls have dropped.

SO much better on PC. 1440p 60FPS with absolutely no dips. Areas load in 3 seconds on HDD, 1 second with an SSD. Summoning and invasions take only 5-10 seconds. coop and PVP are BUTTERY smooth

can't believe I ever bothered with the PS3 version. SMH at from soft for not putting the game on PS4. They could have hit 1080p 60fps easy.

Bought the steam code on GMG, played for a few hours tonight.

It looks quite good and it plays like Dark Souls. Got my month planned out for me now. :)

Nice spin for having to wait until we beat the game every which way to sunday before you actually touch it. Sadly, console versions will still have a better community because PC is nothing but pirates and hackers, that's why it was delayed in the first place lmao.

Has there ever been a port where the PC version is worse than the console versions? dark souls had an absolutely terrible port but it was still better than the console versions. The reason it got so much hate was because PC games are held at a much higher standard than consoles. Having low resolution and frame rate drops are standard in consoles, on PC that means the devs were just lazy.

In case anyone else is having the crash on startup issue, it seems to be related to some people using hdmi. Steam has a couple things to try to get it running:

Master Race Problems!

SSDs actually make games worse. I was unable to play Skyrim because I never got to read any of the loading tips.

Even with a HDD you can't read more than one line. :P

Were you hoping to buy horse armor?

Now that I think about it, I can't say that I have ever played a single game with mounts that would have been better without them.

Basically try enabling GPU scaling in your Amd or Nvidia driver settings. If that doesn't work, highlight the game in steam, disconnect hdmi, and press enter on the keyboard. After a minute or so reconnect hdmi. I had this problem too, it fixed it.

Dark Souls 2 Crashes on launch

It just boots in a white window and hangs there until the windows error message shows up saying "Dark Souls 2 has stopped responding".

-These workarounds are not guaranteed to work for everyone-

1st WORKAROUND

For AMD graphics cards.

- Go to the AMD control center.

- Go to Properties (Digital flat-panel)

- Enable GPU scaling.

- Apply and start the game

For Nvidia graphics cards.

- Open your Nvidia Control Panel

- Go to "Adjust desktop size and position"

- Set "Perform scaling on" to "GPU" // Some people seem to not have the GPU option.

- Apply and start the game

2nd WORKAROUND

- Select Dark Souls 2 in Steam.

- Unplug your HDMI/DVI/VGA Cable

- Hit Enter (this will start the game)

- Plug it back in.

If you are using a multi-screen setup disabling either screen might solve the issue.

On that note GeDoSaTo is freaking awesome. Got it supersampling and the AA and SAO effects all turned up and its still running 60fps. Too bad it can't add detail to the textures. Still a great game though and the definitive version.
