I’m not buying from this homophobic author. Pass on this trash.
dont be reset era. game is game. based on gameplay and world design instead of who make it.
Im passing it because its generic open world RPG in harry potter skin.
Already got it preordered! A bit worried that the pc version is apparently a bit unstable… but then again it’s on steam, so if it’s a problem, I’ll just refund it:)
@ghosts4ever: No thanks, I will never support anything that supports this author. She’s anti-trans people. I will be rating this game 2/10.
Please keep politics out of video games, you guys will never change.
exactly.
who cares someone political views. games should be judge based on game.
gamespot one of few open minded community left. otherwise we have toxic place like Era and reddit.

Yeah, all I care is about how good a game is, is it fun, is the PC port halfway decent...
Everything is always swept up about politics, genres and race these days. It's despicable.
Every time I enter a steam thread... Yuck, I don't even go on the steam forums anymore and I used to do so daily to meet cool people.
Hopefully the reported technical issues not that serious to hamper my enjoyment.
any link to that? I'm searching right now and couldn't come up with much? :)
And yeah I'm playing Dead Space right now, I guess any game day one is set to com with some kind of technical issues.

*People complain about the price (when they are fine spending hundreds of euro on their shiny new coat for their online avatar)
*People bring up something political, race or sex related
*And then among all the digging I do finally find a thread where someone is brave enough to admit the game has a technical issue or there is a performance related issue, and he gets bombared with people going hurr durr your pc is old hurr durr user problem.
There is no point, I don't go there any more.
@R4gn4r0k: Here is some PC footage of the game.

Awesome, it seems like I'm going back 2 school!
I'm very happy to see the developer confidence with them shipping PC review copies as well. Most of the time they just ship PS5 review copies and call it a day.
Like with callisto protocol: I'm 100% convinced that even PC gamer got a PS5 review copy and couldn't even try it out on PC. But them clicks.
Any new specifically on the pc version: what is being done about shader compilation? What about the hefty ram requirements?
PC Gamer is doing a review in progress at the moment.
I was going to pass on this game initially, but this part had me sold:
Hogwarts Legacy is in many ways a game you've played before, but also a rarity: a big-budget RPG attempting to bottle up all of the prestige, splendor, and expectations of a massive media property into a seamless sandbox, and so far, actually nails it. This is Harry Potter's Arkham Asylum moment—a game telling its own story in an established world, unshackled by the restrictive deadlines and creative boundaries of a movie tie-in...
If true, that's a pretty appealing summary. Just using the license, but doing it's own thing, yet rivalling the material the game is based off of.
Gonna sail the seven seas first if there will be the opportunity, because can't trust gameplay vids. It may look fun from the outside, but when it is you at the helm of the controls, the feeling might be quite different [looks at Ghost of Tsushima with regret of buying it] and then decide whether I should spend money on it.
@mrbojangles25: Yeah, it’s sad this game support an anti-human rights person. Would have bought it day 1 otherwise. Now I’ll be getting it for free on PC.
I preordered it for free on my series S. I used MS reward points to buy it. Don’t do that.
It is weird to say not to bring politics race and gender in games when so many games are just that. It's more like "I don't want to have a discussion about specific topics " because this game and the core story of Harry Potter is about politics, prejudices and race.
I'm passing because I really don't want to give any money to JK Rowling, since she's a horrible human being. Plus I completely lost interest in the Harry Potter series back in 2000-2002.
Still, I'm surprised this is getting good reviews. I wonder what people without nostalgia will think of it, once the honeymoon period wears off.
Be interesting to see if their are disingenuous politically motivated reviews or if they remain objective.

Pretty much.
As for Rowling, it is sad the money does go straight to her (I assume she get's a % of all things Harry Potter), but the content is inclusive, and there's a few thousand people involved through all the games, books, films, and so on that aren't bigots and are also profiting from this.
I don't resent anyone for wanting to boycott Harry Potter and I certainly get it, but I don't think we should condemn any that enjoy partaking.
Maybe this is one of those things where we (the royal we, that is) can actually just agree to disagree, and leave it at that.
Sounds like it turned out pretty well. Not a big Harry Potter fan so will pass on it myself. Might try it when it hits Game Pass though.
@mesome713: @Planeforger: Just to clarify things. JK Rowling has nothing to do with the making of Hogwarts Legacy at all. This has been said many times JK won't get nothing out of it and as R4gn4r0k said, leave political out of our games, thank you. Sure she'll get little money mainly just on the license but not a lot from the game sales but that shouldn't be a factor to anyone's enjoyment of this game. That being said, I'm still a fan of Harry Potter/Fantastic Beast so of course I'm buying this game on PC.

Meanwhile the ruzzian over there:
"personally im rooting for Russia out of the two, Ukraine government is a corrupt money laundering machine,Ukraine is the one country in the world that did not execute its Nazis after the war and they were Nazi SS themselves meaning lots of Nazis retired there and raised kids and is why it has so many wannabe Nazis in it"
"Ukraine just killed thousands of rioting citizens when us and eu decided that it's illegal to use democracy without our consent."
And that's just from a couple pages of one thread.
And only 15 hours long. Yeesh.
https://thegamespoof.com/gaming-news/hogwarts-legacy-duration-of-the-campaign/
PS5 has an exclusive quest which adds another 15 hours.
With such a short campaign, hopefully it's discounted soon.
I'm 17 hours into Dead Space and even there people complain that it's not long enough for the money.
For me it's all quality over quantity. I like shorter games that I can possibly finish in my life span.

PC version sounds excellent, DSO gaming will do a right up later today with all the tidbits on performance.
