Sony Just bought Insomniac!

Sunset Overdrive sucked. If they made a superhero game without the Spiderman I.P. would it have done as great?

Kind of a no thrills acquisition. They were basically working for Sony already. The good thing is that if a new SO is made it will have the opportunity to shine without the usual toxicity from hate boys.

That is true. Remember all the fanboys calling Insomniac traitors for working with MS on Sunset Overdrive. If they make a new one even if it is exclusive to PS5 good for them.

I might catch some flak for this but I agree with many that this isn't very surprising. As its been stated already... most their games were Playstation exclusive already. Still... a good move for both Insomniac and Sony.

While I have yet to play Spiderman, I did really enjoy the first Resistance game. It was my only PS3 game for about 6 months after launch. That aside, it was actually a lot of fun.

I surprised that Sony finally bought them. Insomniac always felt like a Sony owned company plus they both work together very well.

Looking forward to not having to buy any 1st party games and playing everything via PSNow. Keep snatching Studios Sony.

Resistance Fall of Man reboot for Ps5 please. Also, not that it looked great, Predator Game looks like it might be fun.

I suppose that depends on the kind of games you like to play. I'll take Obsidian and Outer Worlds over anything Insomniac have cooking.

I say don't bother. Spiderman or new IP. Sunset overdrive should be a multiplat at this point so being that it doesn't exist says to me that they don't care about it enough to make another.

They are certainly a talented developer for sure and a pretty good get for Sony however saying that this squashes everyone that Microsoft acquired is absolutely ridiculous. It is hilarious to see how the stock for Sunset Overdrive has suddenly shot up over night though. ?

@Archangel3371: I really don't. I also own a X1X and played it a little bit with games with gold. I just never got into it. It's not me bashing Xbox and it wasn't a bad game it just wasn't my cup of tea but to be fair I wasn't a fan of the resistance series either. Honestly I wasn't really a huge fan of Insomniac in the PS3 era either but the R&C reboot and Spiderman are the best games they have ever made in my opinion and two of my favorites on the PS4.

That never has and never will happen. Why don't you try being part of the solution next time instead of being part of the problem. Support decent games for your chosen platforms. You don't have to like every game, but SO was solid.

@vfighter: I think they already clarified that SO1 is owned by MS. But I wouldn't be surprised if MS sold it back.

Published isn't the same thing as owning an IP. Sony can release a Sunset Overdrive under different name/added name or with some number

Insomniac has made it clear over and over that they own the Sunset Overdrive IP. Sony now owns it.

Good buy for Sony, although they mostly developed for Sony anyway throughout their history. Ted Price (I think) released a message to fans saying it was a "homecoming", and that they have worked closely with Sony for 20 years because they got to make the games they wanted to make. Great for both parties it sounds like.

Not a huge surprise but definitely a loss for everyone who wont own a PS5 (assuming Sony doesn't expand PSNow to be like gamepass)

Someone recently made a thread about your favorite studios , and Insomniac was 3rd on my list. What a great pickup.

Pretty average studio. Should go along well with Sony's other studios.

@uitravioience: Haven't played it, but it looks average. Got a friend who has it. He got bored of it in less than 10 hours gametime, and he's not even as tired of Assassin's Creed-like games as I am.
