@Xristophoros: Well we don't know exactly the price of Tegra Parker SoC, but we generally know the prices of mobile/tablet SoCs, which may vary from a few $$ to $70ish like Snapdragon 820. In the past Nvidia was pricing their flagship SoCs, lower than Snapdragon flagships, so we can make an educated guess of $50 to $60.
But you are right about the rest. It seems to have a lot of extra features that can cost a lot and raise the price...
@Xristophoros: What are you talking about? Shield console with X1 priced only $199 and this was a year and a half ago.
Mobile/tablet SoCs don't cost as much as people think they cost. You might confuse it with Nvidia Drive PX2 which is an other story...
Nintendo could easily place Tegra Parker SoC and and a cheap GTX (as I said, failed GP107 that they can't reach 640 cores and they have only 512, which Nvidia is not using in any GPU and they don't plan to use yet in any GPU) in the base and have a price around $300.
The tablet could have a Tegra Parker SoC which means it will be 750GFLOPs (Nvidia stated 1,5TFLOPs of half precision, so 750GFLOPs for single). And maybe the base has a GTX GPU like Surfacebook (maybe failed GP107 chips that are not qualified for GTX1050?).
ps: Here is a link of what the Switch tablet will have if they use Tegra Parker SoC:
Hot Chips 2016: NVIDIA Discloses Tegra Parker Details
People need to realise that 4K60FPS is extremely demanding.
Imagine that the first GPU capable of providing acceptable FPS in 4K is Pascal Titan X which has 11TFLOPs, while PS4 Pro has 4,3TFLOPs and since Nvidia's GPUs have better performance per TFLOP, it would need more than 3 times more powerful console...
PS3's GPU (RSX aka Reality Synthesizer) had 400GFLOPs.
Tegra X1 SOC had a Maxwell GPU with 256 cores clocked at 1GHz which makes it 512GFLOPs.
20nm and previous generation (Maxwell) powered X1 already surpassed PS3, I believe the new 14/16nm Pascal based P1 (or whatever it will be called), it could reach performance near XBOX1 (remember XBOX1 might reach 1,3TFLOPs with its AMD GPU, but Nvidia was always better in performance/TFLOPs, so even 1TFLOPs from Nvidia could much XBOX1's GPU.).
@excelevo: Yeah, I know. They said that in order to release it for PC, they want to make it a graphical masterpiece, so... I guess this will delay the game at least for a year...
