@Erebus: Agreed. Shadow of Mordor was particularly impressive. The depth of the nemesis system, combined with the branding ability, and all of it overlaid with the excellent combat system. Monolith went a bit overboard, I think, with the combat upgrades(triple critical combo count AND 5x combo charge AND 2x combo finishers means you can use combat finishers as literally every other move), but I'd call it a 9/10 easy, and far superior to Batman:AO.

That was a good read, even though I understood, though still hated, Dark Souls.

This is pretty much how I felt about Batman: Arkham and the modern beat em up genre. Interestingly, the second Arkham game was the one that defined the genre, rather than the one that established it.

@jasonredemption: cratering would be nice, but isn't wholly necessary. In talking about the kind of destruction where I can carpet bomb four city blocks and watch as the buildings that make up those blocks all collapse in a unique fashion, completely independently of one another based on where the bombs hit and the resulting damage to the support structure of each independent building.

I want to watch as half of a building sloughs off and crashes to the ground, followed by the remaining half doing over flatly and smashing apart when it claps down onto the asphalt below.

@jasonredemption: my thoughts on the state of open world games? They need more explosions, more explosives(handfrags, c4, and 1 airstrike if you're lucky... Pffft!), and more skyscrapers exploding in more dynamic ways.

I disagree. Personally, I'm looking forward to that perfect storm of me, my best shootin' partner and a couple of communicative, team-oriented randoms that will be able to roll right over any monster.

As a monster... meh.

Left 4 Dead suffered in the way you describe because the survivors were all identical and the infected were all so unique. The difference here is that the hunters all seem to serve an individual purpose within the hunt. This means that the most likely problem isn't going to be people abandoning the game because they aren't the monster, it's going to be people who are best with one class being forced to play as a less familiar class and the whole team suffering for it.

This is quite possibly the most brilliant piece I've ever read on a forum that wasn't authored by Grammaton_Cleric.

So I bought Shadow of Mordor, installed it, and played it. Loved it. Determined I'd never sell it. So I returned the preowned copy, got my 55 bucks back, bought a 50$ MS card and bought Shadow of Mordor for 30 bucks.

So I've got some questions:

Will I need to uninstall the physical version and install the digital?

Will my saved game work with the digital copy?
