So, Destiny.

Has:

- About 7 hours of single player story

- PVP

- Online co-op

Thats more than the average game.

Heres where I shake my head. Gamers constantly say that gameplay is the most important thing. There are a lot of indy games PC and console that have last gen graphics....not that great stories or little story....presentation is non existent....lousy pace.

But we play them....b/c gamers constantly say gameplay is what is most important.

Yet....Destiny....everyone complains. But the gameplay....the shooting mechanics are the one thing everyone praises about the game. The gameplay is universally enjoyed.

Yet...many review sites gave it mediocre scores....and gamers hated on it.

So...it just goes to show....that most ppl are don't know what they want or are just trying to be "hardcore".

7 hours of wave missions =/= story

the pvp is terrible and unbalanced, not to mention barebones.

only 3 people can play together unless it's a raid. then it's 6, but there's no matchmaking.

Oh, and hardly any social elements for something trying to pretend it's an MMO. The loot system is utter shit as well. Want me to continue listing problems?

@StrifeDelivery: Yep, those 6 exclusives are multiplats.

they either are or they're going to be in a few months. Happens with every xbox "exclusive" these days.

the only thing great about destiny is/was Marty's OST he made for the game.

and since Bungie decided to fire him, they effectively have nothing left.

they can't dump all the blame on advertising, I remember this clearly being one of the titles MS was touting for awhile before launch at events such as e3. No, the problem is it being a Kinect-centric game (even if it doesn't require it, it was designed with it in mind) and just being the wrong type of game for the system.

Not saying it would've done much better as a PS exclusive, but multiplat would've been the smart way to go. MS funded it, but from everything I read, they dug the grave themselves. Wanted to make a Kinect game and pitched to MS who accepted without even knowing the fanbase of these games.

The way the release date and such was handled was pretty stupid though, yeah.

Definitely Destiny. I never bought into this whole MMO crap they were trying to sell and I never cared for the pvp, but I always had faith in the story Bungie could tell and have never really felt let down by anything they've done before. Sure, Dinklage's performance in the Alpha/Beta sucked and there was little story or variety, but I was amazed any of this was even in pre-release demos at all. We've never gotten a Halo, Cod, or any kinda beta for a big game like this that had pvp AND campaign content in it.

But OH how wrong I was. Earth in the beta is literally the same as Earth in the full release. No new missions were added/left out because it was a beta. The gameplay remained repetitive for the rest of the game and the story continued going nowhere and was honestly the weakest part of the entire game. The game also failed to provide incentive for doing strikes or ANYTHING besides the raid/nightfall once you become a high enough level to do these events and you can only do each once per week unless you work around the limit by creating multiple characters.

Watch_Dogs certainly wasn't revolutionary, but it was still honest good fun and the MP was decent enough. Aiden sucked and the story was a little bland, but it was MUCH better than Destiny as it felt like effort was actually put into it on SOME level. I'll gladly play it again at some point in the future just as I gladly replay AC1 whenever I feel like playing a marathon of those games.

Destiny? I'm only playing it now cause it's the flavor the month and I'll never get my money back. When I shelf it, it will either never be played again, or I'll never replay any of the "story" or currently existing strikes.

people still give a crap about this?

Obviously the biggest threat to gaming is some indie chick on patreon who gets a few dicks wet in order to promote a unique, original, pay-what-you-want game that donates to charity.

This is a much bigger deal than AAA games blowing a significant part of their budget into slick advertising campaigns, so they can sell you the same game as last year, sponsor shows on big websites, have editors fired for personal criticism of said games, releasing games in a broken "we'll patch it later since we spent our money plastering billboards" state, day one DLC..

no you goddamn idiot. That was merely what sparked the fire. The issue was all about the relations devs were having with journalists. Some of these were most definitely not just speculation cases. Conflict of interest that of course makes us question the integrity of many sites. Sites like Polygon, Kotaku, Rock Paper Shotgun, and NUMEROUS others were involved. Just look at the sheer number of sites that all reported "the death of the gamer" at around the same time.

So yeah, it was about some cheating indie game dev, but we're WAY beyond that now. Gamers now feel at war with all these "gaming journalists", feminists, and Social Justice Warriors because here's how the whole deal was handled by the other side.

1. They tried to cover up information

2. They tried to CENSOR conversation

3. They tried ATTACKING the gamers who continued the conversation.

In the process, sites like reddit and even 4CHAN have fallen and are no longer allowed to discuss the issues in peace. Mods and admins of this site have been PROVEN to be in collaboration with the anti GG people. Users from these sites are banned or shadowbanned (aren't even told that they've been banned, so when they post, it looks normal, but nobody can see their posts besides them) neogaf's mods and admin have given out personal information on voices of dissent and openly mocked them. Anyone who is seen as pro gamergate is subject to attacks on twitter and some have lost their careers, but there's no publicity for this. You only hear about it from websites when someone is lashing out against an SJW or feminist and then these sites lie and try to claim that every gamer is like this and that they should be ashamed of that.

Sweet clickbait topic OP. Have you considered applying for a job at IGN?

More misleading hype. If Sony had another game coming out in its empty 2014 then they would have said something during its empty E3 show.

lol Justin mad Sony dominated the year. Bu bu but Tomb Raider rental

Wait I thought the general consensus said Nintendo won E3 this year.

only when you factor post-conference content and ignore the exclusion of pretty much every single multiplat aka the great majority of videogame releases.

I'm a 27 in Destiny with far more time than 20 hours spent so far and I've gotten a fair deal into the raid.

All this fanboy defense of Bungie and the game I've seen (mostly on Bungie.net) is truly pathetic. People need to accept that the game was horribly overhyped, advertising was misleading, the loot system is god awful, the story (the 1 thing I actually expected to be grear for sure) was practically non-existent, pvp is handled poorly in both balance and rewards, the amount of content is lacking, etc.

I don't give 1 flying **** that Bungie is going to add more to the game later, even if it is free. I paid for a complete experience NOW. If the game is so poor without whatever the hell they are withholding that I should save my judgment for then, I'd have to say in response that Bungie sold me an incomplete game at full price and I should be compensated. Hell, we better get at least 1 expansion that adds a shitton of content FOR FREE otherwise I see no reason to sink more money into this barebones disappointment.

And don't listen to all the asshats trying to justify the game's flaws by claiming that "it's an MMO and that explains why X is the way that it is". This game is about as much of an MMO as Mario Kart is a sim racer.

some real pathetic complaints here. You're a fanboy for reasons you are too lazy to express, so you made a shitty list. Let's review it.

1. Bitching about the look of the console? Really? Dude have you never owned a console before? It's fine. Even if you hate it, Xbox One does literally the same thing, but you chose to only bitch about the ps4. I wonder why.

2. The sticks were indeed a problem. Can't really comment on the new sticks and if the issue is fixed since I don't follow the issue much. Launch day ds4 still looks as good as the day I bought it.

3. The ps4 "wobble" isn't a problem or a design flaw. You've pointed out yourself where the rubber legs are, they cover a large enough area well enough that it is able to rest evenly. It rests as intended horizontally and the only way you're going to see movement is if you force weight down on a side without a leg.

4. Naturally resting the system vertically does this. It's always the same with consoles. I suppose maybe they could've overcompensated by making a power brick and making half of the top of the system a giant vent, but there's no need. Ps4 overheating isn't even as issue, so stop trying to pretend as it is. If you're so worried about it, don't stand the system vertically. It's an option, you aren't forced to do it.

5. Because the glossy Sony used is really any more vulnerable than what MS, Nintendo, or ANYBODY who makes a glossy plastic product uses.

6. Wii U Pro controller doesn't come standard with the system and doesn't have all the same bells and whistles that a ds4 does. Considering everything, that controller is overpriced. Regardless, you chose to compare the ps4 controller to that one and decided not to bitch about the giant expensive tablet controller that actually is sold with the system that only has a 2 hour battery life or the other system's controller that requires double AAs or an additional purchase for rechargeables.
