The improvement depends on how well made the power supply is on the console, as well as the transformer it comes with. I would have to look into the power supplies of the N64 and psx. But they probably work off of the same voltages, you have to make sure the transformer or linear power supply has enough amperage for the console.

Beware the snes has its polarity reversed compared to most electronic devices with a barrel plug power connection. Meaning the inside wire is neutral, not hot or live like most electronics. They make adapters for this though.

That 9volt iFi transformer has all the main barrel plug sizes to fit most electronics. It also comes with a polarity reversal adapter as well ( if I remember correctly ). If you have an nes with some cheap transformer, you could try out the genesis transformer on the nes and see if it makes an improvement. I have used 12 volt DC transformers on my nes and genesis of different types, usually the heavier ones produce less video noise. Just always remember, the original nes transformer puts out AC voltage, so never use it on anything else or you will destroy the device. But it is safe to use transformers with DC output on the nes bc it works with DC on the inside of nes.

Dont use any other transformers on the snes until you understand the polarity reversal that I mentioned earlier. You can get adapters that would make normal barrel plugs polarity reversed, if you had one then you could put it on the snes. You can get these at radioshack.

@davillain-: It would improve the picture by sending cleaner signal to tv. This is taking it more extreme, you might not even notice unless pointed out.

What i experienced with genesis and nes is a more solid picture, smoother, and less flickering around edges.

I like to get the best picture from my nes, genesis, and snes. I might get a BVM/PVM in the future but for now I use an early 2000's flat tube crt with S-video.

Recently I have been studying up on getting clean power from your home. Getting clean power does make an improvement and I wanted to point out this wall wart: http://ifi-audio.com/portfolio-view/accessory-ipower/

And then you could also use a linear power supply maybe something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131034415051?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Of course this would be for those who really want to get the best from their consoles. I have played around with different wall wart transformers with my nes (bc it shows the benefit more easily) and not all are equal when it comes to video noise. I played with ferrite cores on all my old consoles and they do make an improvement but they are not good for audio. I dont use the ferrites but they do make the picture more solid and clean.

I have a feeling many who are put off by this game so far, will end up getting it bc it is a Miyamoto game. I was excited when SF64 came out but never really enjoyed the game. It worked on the snes bc of the epic presentation and 3d gfx for that tme in gaming.

Played it last night and I was taken in by the first evening at Ordon village. The sunset creates vibrant colors on the landscape that look beautiful, lots of color detail/gradient. It does kinda remind me of a painting when looking at still screens. During the daytime though it is less colorful with a cool (temp.) color palette.

The game does look way better on your screen than all the video's show it to be. I played the Wii game a couple years ago and the upgrade is very substantial. The sound is kinda muddy being that they used the same samples as gamecube/wii. I thought Nintendo would have higher resolution samples stored away but maybe they captured and saved them in same resolution as the old games. Some sounds do seem to be better though, like in the sewers of the castle in wolf form.

I tried out the quick start option with the amiibo and I like the idea for getting into save game quickly. But I stopped playing before figuring out how to quick save to the amiibo after the first initial scan and save. If you have to go through the instruction screen every time you save to, then its not worth doing. If I can save just as easily as I can load, then I would use it.

Wait for E3 too see what the NX is all about then make decision. I would absolutely not buy it right now. I got the U when WWHD bundle was released.

I am debating right now whether or not I should cancel my order of the game. I could get 3 Nintendo select games for the price of this, and I have not played DKTF or Pikmin 3.

@Articuno76:Yeah I was wondering how the taller sticks would feel with DS4, we gamers can adapt.

@GTR12 You have actually done that?

@Solidity I do have a feeling some are much rougher than others on the thumbsticks.

I'm betting NX will be backwards compatible so we can continue to play our Wii U games on there. Didn't we hear something about NX absorbing wii u's architecture and really it makes sense, it feels too soon for new iterations of Smash, Mario Kart and other franchises. I do see us getting a new Animal Crossing and 3d Mario, haven't had one of those since Galaxy 2

They did talk about the NX absorbing U architecture, but who knows now. I cant see them sticking with that architecture going into the future with 3rd parties. Unless they come up with some plan for 3rd party dev too easily port with the U architecture with more power, would be hard too make a soft dev kit like that.

I do think that they will use some of their U games like MK8, smash. For the NX close too launch, just seems like a good idea since the games are great but didnt reach a wide user base with the U.

Nintendo has already done what you described in your OP. Some games were canned on GC and placed on Wii, others were on both platforms during the transition (GCs Zelda TP was delayed on purpose for the Wii which was greatly annoying as I had reserved it for GC years prior).

Hmm didnt know they did it with others besides TP. I will stop at TP:HD and then wait and see what they say at E3, will be interesting since they need to be careful how they handle the transition.
