The "bad port" thing is way overstated. And in any case even the few games I would consider to be bad ports still run and look way better on my PC than on consoles.
That's true, but it's a last gen game and it already runs at 1080p/60fps on the standard PS4, so it's not surprising it can run at 4k/30fps. Don't expect very many games like that (other than other last gen games).
That's such a lame excuse. It's not like it wouldn't be obvious to Sony anyway. Sony just wasn't in the place to charge for it at the time. Once they improved their service and their standing with gamers they were ready to charge for it.
Basically, though, what I most appreciate about PC gaming is the huge amount of freedom and flexibly we have to customize the experience according to our own tastes and the things we value.
Yeah but Rise of the Tomb Raider is reported to run at between 40 and 60fps. That isn't really 60fps. It will have nearly constant stutter due to the framerate not lining up with the refresh rate of TVs.
The Last of Us is a last gen game and it already ran at close to 60 frames per second so I wouldn't be surprised if that one manages to hit 60fps. But most games won't. The CPU in the PS4 Pro is too much of a bottleneck.
The Witcher 3 mods are pretty cool too. I mod nearly all of my games to one degree or another even if it's just using the post process toolset in ReShade. I can make games look VERY different with just those tools, and subjectively better to my tastes.
Yep, I'm staying on PC. I'm not falling for that BS. The best performance and graphics are consistently on PC. Why would I do most of my gaming on a console with no backwards compatibility, inconsistent performance levels, and one in which I have to wait half the generation to get better performance and graphics? And even then the games from the first half of the generation are not even guaranteed to be improved by the new console.
You sound like more of a Sony fan than a PC gamer.
I paid less to upgrade my PC this generation than I did on my PS4.
Maybe if you're just getting into PC gaming and starting from scratch it would be more expensive, but even then the difference isn't as much as you make it sound. And a PC has a significant number of advantages and abilities a console doesn't.
