For sure. I get a ton of value out of it. My sub is up in December. They'd have to do a pretty substantial price hike for me to walk.

Spend bilions to buy studios. Fire everyone. Close company.

Haha.

Aaaaand they likely will somehow use this as a tax write-off, reducing their already negligible tax bill.

I actually like the RDR series more than the GTA series. I just started my first playthrough of GTA 5, and it's pretty good. But as big the environment is, it does feel kind of dead.

I actually liked Watch Dogs 2. It was different enough that the story was half decent.

It's easy for me to enjoy easy games. When I was a kid and had less responsibilities and more free time, I enjoyed the challenge of difficult games and beating games on high difficulty. However, I simply don't have the luxury of free time as I once did, plus there's plenty enough going on in life that is hard enough -- gaming for me is an escape and a means to enjoy my solo time.

And so, I have no qualms with easy games or playing games on easy modes.

@shellcase86: Maybe it has changed but this is what Microsoft has said according to GameSpot.

Spencer disclosed that Microsoft subsidizes the production cost of a new Xbox by about $100 to $200 per console.

According to OP, MS said:

"The price of the components of a console aren’t coming down as fast as they have in previous generations."

It would be nice to get an update on this, as well as how MS thinks adding other stores will help them recuperate any loss on hardware sales.

Thanks for the insight.

It'll be four years by the time the thing releases, not three.

@lavamelon: Yeah. It doesn't seem clear how letting people buy from Steam and EGS and GOG will help solve the problem Phil raised about MS having difficulty subsidizing Xbox hardware.

It seems like in order to recover the $100-$200 loss on every Xbox sold they may need to either lower the cost of the hardware by selecting more appropriate components, increase the price of the hardware, and/or tax the sales from Steam etc which could increase the price of games.

I doubt they're losing that much on each unit. It's got to be lower, if Sony is able to sell the PS5 at profit for over a year now, no?

I'm down, give it a shot. Sometimes a series needs a bold new direction.
