BG3 has a real shot to do well with these awards. But Nintendo has a couple of heavy hitters too. And the biggest Xbox games are missing from TGA‘s nominees lists. How many other awards are they gonna be missing from? Maybe Xbox threw billions at the wrong games?

Starfield won't win anything but best game on the Xbox cuz its the only game on the Xbox. 70B well spent. 25 years in the making was also time well spent. I want to see Todd's face right now, and how does @dabear damage controls this situation, which i've also predicted😂

I predict it will be either TOTK or BG3 that wins GOTY... Although RE4 is the best game, but it's a remake.

@dabear: And yet it seems you didn't understand how Golden Joystick awards work.

BG3 won the ultimate GOTY, as well as PC GOTY. BG3 is also available on PS5. Why didn't BG3 win PS GOTY? Because it already won on PC. If you look at the nominees you can literally see what they were for each platform. Each game can only be represented by one platform, even if they are available on others. A game can only win 1 platform GOTY, even if it is available on 2, 3 or all 4 platforms.

RE4 had to compete with: Final Fantasy 16, Street Fighter 6, Humanity, Armoured Core Vi and SW: Jedi Survivor. Those were the games chosen to represent the PS. Of course it won.

Starfield had to compete with Dead Space and a hunk of shovelware (as all the good games went to the PC and the PS) except for Dead Space. Dead Space is a remake that is no where near the level of RE4.

So well done to Starfield for being better than Dead Space remake and a list of junk lol.

@Jag85: remakes should only win GOTY if there are no true GOTY deserving titles.

I would have easily given the 2021 GOTY to TLOUP1 or RE4 Remake if they had released that year instead of 2022/23.

2022 had Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok, both are GOTD candidates

while 2023 had Baldur's Gate 3 and Zelda: TOTK, both are GOTD candidates.

2021 was so dogshit that It Takes Two won GOTY (and I agree with that choice due to the lack of true GOTY winners)

As good as RE4R is (equal to BG3 as the best game of 2023), it doesn't feel fair giving it GOTY over an original game.

The Game Awards are truly a trainwreck this year.

1. Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush, FF16, Hogwarts Legacy, Octopath Traveler 2, and Armored Core 6 all got major snubs.
2. How is Cyberpunk 2077 a nominee for "Best Community Support"? How is Destiny 2, when Bungie missed their target by FOURTY FIVE PERCENT and just had mass layoffs???
3. Dave The Diver is not an Indie game. Mintroket is owned by Nexon, a billion dollar Korean gaming conglomerate.
4. Lies of P (a game I loved) is not an RPG.
5. How did Diablo IV (I do love it, btw) get nominated for "Best Multiplayer" when the shit multiplayer mode is the reason NO ONE STILL PLAYS DIABLO IV?!?!?!!

It was 21 months between Halo Infinite and, Starfield. Heck, the wait between Halo Infinite and, Hi-Fi Rush was longer than the PlayStation "drought". Xbox got dunked on because it was a pattern of droughts since launch. And lets not even start with the fact that PlayStation has had *other* AAA exclusives like FF16.

GoW Ragnarok was part of last year's game awards. From the deadline last year, to the deadline this year, PS had nothing.

After Halo Infinite: Forza Horizon 5, Pentiment, Grounded, and As Dusk Falls.

Plus, AOE 4, Forza Motorsport, and AOE 2 all launched for Xbox this year.

I still need to finish the RE4 Remake, Zelda, and BG3... Among many other titles, time is always such a precious commodity.

I actually enjoyed the Dead Space remake more than RE4 though, but out of that list, I'll go with RE4.

Just finished Alan Wake 2 last night. Fantastic game. Only game I have left to play from the GotY nominations is Baldur’s Gate 3. So far Tears of the Kingdom still has my vote.
