The OG PS3 was a better value proposition than the 360.

Sega was never good.

Sunshine is the best 3D Mario.

Reach had the best campaign in a Halo game.

The Xbox One controller is too small.

Marvel's Spider-Man is better than any Batman Arkham game.

The GameCube is Nintendo's best console in terms of design and library.

So, where are the unpopular opinions in there?

Nintendo games are grossly overrated, like seriously.

360 had the shittiest policies. I am still baffled at how positively some folks remember it.

The PS3 gaming library was very solid outside of the heavy hitters.

I agree that the GameCube was the best Nintendo console in design and library.

Half-Life was a great game but no where close the level some recall.

The Witcher 3 was the most unrewarding highly rated open world game I have played.

Uncharted 4 was an absolute disappointment, except for one level.

I thought these were universally known facts.

Resident Evil 4 is mechanically, demonstrably broken.

it probably isn't an unpopular opinion to have now, or it shouldn't be, I bet most the people who still praise this game couldn't stomach playing the game the way it was originally designed

You would think so. Especially the latter given how every remotely popular Nintendo IP was well represented on the system.

Nintendo exclusives are a rehashed mess with a new coat of paint, and that for over 30 years straight.

Nintendo is always creating simpleton stories that rely on saving a princess for the 149th time because they have no talent in story telling.

Or because people don't really care about the story in a Mario platformer

Look at Switch: half the games on there are Wii U ports.

Meanwhile Gamecube had the best versions of Nintendo IP (Zelda, Star Fox, Mario Kart) and didn't rely soley on N64 ports.

Also Nintendo designed the console so that it was easy to take it to your friends place, by making it have a carry handle.

That's just the awesome system that Gamecube is.

If Mario was the only thing on the system, sure. But there's more than Mario.

It also had the best Nintendo controller. To this day the best way to play Smash is the GameCube controller which is still being sold.

Game/system updates don't bother me.

I don't care about having a game right the instant it launches, I can wait for months (sometimes years).

On these boards: I absolutely love open-world games (in reality not an unpopular opinion since these kind of games sell tons and are generally loved).

I think the Gamecube was in overall a much better system than the PS2 in terms of performance/design/library.

I loved Halo 4.

I personally preferred the PSP to the DS.

I hated the Wii (not sure if unpopular or not).

While I liked my 3DS I felt like it was nothing special and just wished Sony actually gave a crap about the VITA so I could buy that instead.

I like the Fable franchise.

I think Prince of Persia (2008) was perhaps the best PoP since Sands of Time.

That's about what I can think of atm.

DRM-ed digital-only can die in a goddamn fire. Haven't used Steam in over a decade, and digital console games are of no use either.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X aren't nearly worth the $500 price, and $70 games can join those DRM-ed digital only games in that fire I mentioned earlier.

The graphical arms race has done infinitely more harm to gaming than good since at least the 7th gen.

There's nothing wrong with the Wii U ports on the Switch. Around three people bought the Wii U, and Nintendo needs to make their money on those games somehow.

VR is a useless gimmick right up there with motion controls.

Open world games are vastly overrated with very few exceptions. Unless it's the quality of a Red Dead 2 or Horizon: Zero Dawn, you're probably better off with a linear game.

Square Enix should really stop throwing all the money they own at increasingly vapid Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts games that can never hope to be as profitable as Dragon Quest or the Eidos/Crystal Dynamics titles. And while they're at it, stop meddling in Eidos'/Crystal Dynamics' affairs and just let them make money for you.

Once you get past EA, Ubisoft and Activision, the games industry is mostly pretty okay as far as content for money goes.

Whoever has been naming Xbox consoles the last couple generations needs to be stuffed in a rocket and fired into the sun. Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S are the worst names for anything gaming related since New Super Mario Bros. They're somehow in contention with the Wii U for worst system name, when that shouldn't even be close.

Wait, people hate Halo 4? 5 was hot garbage, but I thought 4 was a great game, just behind Reach.

you can build cheap PC. a budgeted PC and it can still play a next gen game which you bought console that is twice as expensive. on other hand you cant build cheap console to play same game on lower setting.

PC has advantage to all class people.

• I enjoy Bethesda's Fallouts. New Vegas is one of my least favourite Fallout games.
• First party Nintendo games and The Witcher 3 are overrated.
• Mass Effect 3 is the best game in the franchise and the ending wasn't disappointing or dork-rage inducing.
• The first Uncharted game is the best one and they all went downhill after that one.
• Squall is dead/dying after the first disc in Final Fantasy VIII. I don't care what the producers/developers say decades later about this.

1. Xenoblade Chronicles X is the greatest RPG of all time (I NEED A PART 2)

2. Building games are the greatest Genre of gaming (the art of creation is divine)

3. Linear games are lame and boring. I don't need devs to tell me exactly how to play and what to do the entire time. Let me find my own way!

4. Animal Crossing and Pokemon are the two laziest crap games ever. It is NOT because they are for kids (that is cool in my opinion) it is because Nintendo/Game Freak does not even try. These games make a ton of money, so why not spend to make these games as great as they could be? Nope. They are just lazy crap.

I like Mario 3 and Yoshi Island better than Super Mario World.

I like the bosses better in mario 3 the koopa's you had epic bosses in yoshi island in world they were recycled trash elephants on spining wheel i hated it man I actually don't love world as much as people claim.

THe level design in mario 3 and yoshi island like i was flying through the level swith the cape in world and just infininte flying if your good you don't have to go on the ground at all.

Yoshi can all hover for like 3 seconds in island and 3 you can't fly forever with the cape you could literally fly through the whole stage if your good.

I'll do one for each platform to be fair.

-Nintendo games are usually more of the same milked franchises and the company itself is the biggest dick of the big three manufacturers, requiring repurchases of the same games, ignoring what fans ask for, and shutting down everything done to provide what they won't deliver. Oh, and DLC locked behind McDonald's toys will always be a joke that never gets old.

-Microsoft's business decisions during the 360 generation set gaming back so far it will never be the same. Releasing a console with a 54% failure rate just to get it out before the competition making alot of smart consumers think twice before buying a launch console ever again. Forcing companies to charge money for DLC that was free on PC therefore being the catalyst that started the micro-transaction issue in gaming today, and also being the 1st for charging for Online access that others gave for free.

-Sony's inability to quickly adapt to issues and updates stems from their Japanese corporate bureaucracy killing any ability to expedite anything. While Their games are their strongest asset, it's the most slippery slope to be on as one prolonged dry spell or a few duds would be enough to seriously hurt their gaming division and hurt them far worse than the other two manufacturers.

-Anyone who says PC gaming is too expensive are jobless or lying to themselves, because compared to other hobbies I've encountered (paintball, skiing, cars, guns, hockey, vinyl records, pets, golf) it's cheaper than all of them, and any adult who's self sufficient and works knows that even 1K isn't enough to pay all your bills for one month when your paying for a mortgage, electric, car, insurance, cell phone ect. The cost of gaming in and of itself is a low cost hobby.

That's just because you all haven't played the superior Wii version of RE4 :)... I'm actually kind of serious though.

Anyway, 1080 Avalanche is dramatically superior to the first game. I'd say it's almost (but not quite) as good as SSX3. Speaking of, SSX 2012 is also an awesome game.

Twisted Metal 2012 mechanically the best entry in the series. Everything else isn't quite as good, but gameplay trumps all in my book.

The Jak games just aren't very good platformers. Jak X was a good racing game though.

MotoGP 10/11 is the best motorcycle racing game ever. I like it more than Tourist Trophy. Fight me you four other people in existence who have even heard of these games!

Mortal Kombat should be 3D again. Also 3D fighting games are better than 2D in general.

I hate BotW. Mario Odyssey is a snooze fest. The Switch really isn't anything special. It's a natural extension of the Psp/Vita's design with the exception of the dock. All of Nintendo's games should sell for discounted prices since they can basically run on hardware from 2005/2006.

Witcher 3, RDR2, most if not all of Sony's big guns are all overrated... but but muh story . Go read a book.

Souls series is a massive step back for 3rd person action games compared to the likes of DMC and Ninja Gaiden.

Fable 1 and 2 have some of the lamest realtime combat in the history of 3rd person games. Worse then pretty much all of their contemporaries. They should just make the next game fantasy animal crossing or something if combat is not improved dramatically.

• Call of Duty 4 ruined the FPS genre by it's dumbed down gameplay it made alot of money so other gaming companies copied them and it ruined the F.E.A.R. and Crysis sequels same with Battlefield and Medal of Honor
• Mirror's Catalyst is a good game and mostly gets it's hate from people that just like to shit on open world games
• Max Payne 2 is the best in the series first game is a classic but has aged due to stiff animations and lack of physics the third game is great but it's missing grenades and has to many cutscenes and you can't skip them
• Doom Eternal is trash every single kill in the game is QTE but they call them glory kills it's the same shit with a different name
• Prey 2006 is much better then the new Prey which is dull trash
• GTA : SA is better then Vice City I know that's weird coming from me because of my avatar as much as I love Vice City SA took GTA to a whole new level in the 3D era of the trilogy
• Battlefield 2 is the best in the series not Bad Company 2
• Halo and Gears of War are both generic
• Batman Arkham origins is the best in the series
• Resident Evil 7 is pretty much meh RE4 will always be the best in the series
• Tomb Raider 2013 best in the series
• DMC 2013 is better then DMC 5
• Silent Hill Shattered Memories is the best in the series, also the Silent Hill games as a whole gameplay kinda sucks in general and always has it's the story and atmosphere which makes the series great
• Rage 2 is underrated and it's combat is better then Doom 2016 and Eternal
• Metro Exodus sucked
• Mafia 2 is the best in the series
• GTA V is the best open world game of all time, Sleeping Dogs is close though
• Far Cry 4 sucked 5 was much better
• L.A. Noire is a damn good game it doesn't get the recognition it deserves I would love a new title in the series

I only say this because since consoles are so fucking weak, devs have to implement TAA/TXAA on 99% of the games out right now, and it's awful. It looks like I'm looking at a game with vaseline splashed on my eyes. Good thing DLSS kinda fixes that, but it still looks bad compared to games that had proper MSAA or SSAA implementation.

I'll do one for the platform holders and for third party. I'll have unpopular as far as forums go.

Console

• The Wii was actually a great console, and people on forums underrate how inventive it actually was. The GameCube had the worst Zelda, Mario, and Mario Kart entries in the franchise, and it deserved to flop tbh.
• A lot of Nintendo 'haters' are people too poor to afford their console, which is why they beg them to go third party.
• Halo was overrated, even in its prime.
• Phil Spencer is actually doing amazing things for the company since he's emphasizing putting Microsoft on multiple platforms, instead of having a dick measuring contest with Sony.
• Sony fans aren't simply haters of other platforms. The reason Sony has so many loyal fans is that they actually give a **** about the smaller markets, and that adds up.
• Sony first party games are overrated on forums, which is why they have lower sales compared to Nintendo games in real life.

Third Party

• The hate Fortnite receives is literally only because it's popular and kids play it. Fortnite actually has the best micro-transaction and 'DLC' systems bar none. You can play the game normally without spending a cent. Like there are no game mode lockouts, certain areas of the map aren't locked out, etc. Also, you get free currency in the free pass, so you can buy the actual battle pass when you play enough. After buying and beating the battle pass twice, you have left over currency, to which you can buy a regular skin and the next battle pass, or you can beat it thrice, and be able to buy an epic skin. Like the hate Fortnite receives is actually disgusting considering how great it actually is. Forum gamers seriously need to grow the **** up.
• A few Japanese gaming companies hate Nintendo so much, that instead of having success in Japan by simply porting some of their games to the Switch, they'd rather chase the West which may or may not even work.
• If you actually buy games from EA and Activision, you're an actual clown; especially if you trash Fortnite's micro-transactions.
• Capcom and Bandai Namco are companies that are past their prime. Capcom nowadays rips off other open world games for Monster Hunter, and Bandai Namco just whores themselves out for anime ip to sell otherwise mediocre games.
• The Ubisoft hatred for that time period, around Asscreed Unity, was a bit unfair. Yes they were shitty and should be called out, but other gaming companies got away with shit that games cut Ubisoft up for.

If no new video game ever released again I would perfectly fine with that. All I would want is for all older games to be playable on new tv's.

Like make a SNES classic that I can buy and download games on. And put up the entire SNES library. I'd happily rebuy the same games.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who absolutely loathed The Witcher 3.
