I'm still running my Ryzen 2700X for the time being but I wanted to get the 3900X but those things are still sold out everywhere. Next week, I come to a conclusion I'll go ahead and get the 3800X instead and for those who are gonna tell to buy 3700X, that too is out of stock, so the 3800X it is. Also got myself a new Motherboard ASUS Prime X570 for that as well. Afterwards, I am done upgrading my PC for the next 4/5 years.

Mind as well aim for the 3950x.

Just saw that you just get setup on the other thread. Congrats. I can't help you with the 3k/x570 setup specifically, but I do have 2600/x470 setup, and did read up on the new zen 2.

Checkout the dram calculator and videos on how to tighten the timings. I think you got 90% of the performance in the ram front with that speed. The ryzen 2k and 3k doesn't have much more oc headroom beyond boost, boost actually is likely better than traditional oc especially if you keep the cpu and vrm (good motherboard) plus it boosts all the cores. Though as of right now I keep hearing issues of it not boosting to its rated limit but rather 100mhz or so shy of it. So watch out for a bios update, in the past like zen 1 had a lot of their issues fixed through that.

Also I think there should be one more iteration of ryzen for the am4 socket. Zen 3, I have a feeling it won't be a dramatic jump from zen+ to zen2 like yours though.

@Bikouchu35: I got 144Hz monitor not so long ago too. So much smoother than 60Hz. Next up is perhaps CPU for you?

Its a ryzen 5 2600 that I got earlier this year. I'm not exactly pressed to upgrade, but the 3600 and up are nice. Even the 3600 itself is a good boost and inexpensive, I may very well get more fps to the dollar upgrading that than a gpu.

I loved dirt 2, my favorite of the series. It really captured that x-games essence along with that menu.

Gran turismo 1, 2 & 4 had that map layout which I liked a lot.

Some accessories that brought me closer to 2019 than from the stone age. First time owning a 144 flicker free monitor, I think the non-pwm part already had me sold, but I'll still be returning it cause it seems like the 24" ips ones that I was looking for is finally coming.

I also got a wifi 6/Bt 5 ax200 intel chip card. I got fed up with my cheap usb wifi, I kept thinking my wifi sucked, but after some research it turns getting a modern beefy chip makes a huge difference and that my adapter before was just an utter disgrace. I'm sure the heat sink tacked on and antenna doesn't hurt either.

Either your PC is merely hibernating or there is still power going through the USB for whatever reason. Besides you shouldn't be surprised, windows is shit and always will be.

win10 is shit. win7 at least I liked it.

@pyro1245: you should check out TVs for hdr instead, imo, and a seperate higher speed monitor just because of cost. It seems like monitors, the more features you expect from it like size, hz, panels, 10bit etc., the price skyrockets. Where as a tv you can get a true hdr full array tv 55" for $500-600, heck even my cheap ass 4k 43" $250 has beautiful black contrast, for $50 more you can get one with wide color gamut. VAs tv are damn good imo, then just get something smaller/cheaper that's 144hz for a monitor to game comp fps/fast paced genres, while slower pace games and single player can be used for the tv.

@burntbyhellfire: stalk buildapcsale Reddit. They usually have monitors on there. Also if you live within two hours of a microcenter it could be worth the trip. $150 curved va are there. From what I read most ips have slightly higher response time too but isn't too noticeable with most people or non-pros. Given though TN is dinosaur tech so they been making it for ages thus they are able to make such flawless monitors in terms of speed.

BTW any exact models you're waiting for? I only found this Asus 27" monitor VG279Q which is available now, but it's kind of big for 1080p. There's an AOC VA monitor that has good reviews C24G1, it shouldn't be too different than IPS exept it's curved. I'm seriously considering it, but no store in my city has it, so I can't see it, and I'm not sure if I'd like a curved monitor. Sigh...

I'm eyeing on this or anything ips at that very size.

I really like the VA price, but I'm the same as you. Not a fan of the curve, but havent own one yet, so idk how I'll feel keeping one. Perhaps you are going to have to venture a little further to find a display model or just order one and return if it isn't your thing.

I'm a big fan of VAs since they make good tv panels, but I'm not 100% sold on gaming monitors of it just yet.

I get that it's TN, what I mean is you're probably used to IPS picture quality. That's why TN looks ugly to you. I only tried a non gaming ultra wide LG IPS briefly and BF4 looked like motion blur was set to 100%. But I recon as long as those new 144 Hz IPS monitors have low input lag they'll be fine. A little motion blur won't hurt.

Yup, hope I didn't come off as an asshat. Yeah I'll definitely return it for ips, as I surf the web a lot and that becomes much more noticeable. It does feel kind of trippy now that I have it hooked up, everything feels sped up like a michael mann's movie. Thanks for the input.
