I understand this is desolated ww1 setting but that doesn't mean grasses didn't grow where it should. Just look at the barren landscape where they threw in a huge flat grass texture, why put a texture there portraying grass when you could have 3d grass instead? Clearly they spent most of their alpha blend budget on explosions. Therefore the environment detail suffers.

Nar mate, it looks good at times but the lighting, character models, lack of PBR really pull it back from reaching top tier.

What a joke of a thread, as soon as panda appears everything just boils down to cherry picking bad shots as usual, then hermit opportunists join the shit show as if they proved anything lol. I can easily cherry pick 100s of low res crysis 3 shots but I ain't gonna waste my time on it.

Looks like ass, the game has less grass than most current gen games it's embarrassing. Not sure how some people would blindly call it graphics king lol.

Like ewww.

Hope the campaign delivers some more grass.

What makes you think uc4s photo mode is unplayable? You get to control the camera any time, like I said nothing is added, it's just a side effect of tssaa, you are seriously slow. I'm done for the night. So good night.

@DragonfireXZ95: increase iq is a relative term, one could consider zooming in an iq increase since you get to see better Lod. In photo modes case the paused nature of tssaa gives you a cleaner look. Are you gonna say close up shots are not allowed now?

Again no one is stopping you from using photo mode shots of other games, chuck in some sweet fx and sharpen the shit out of tw3 or tr if you want.

No I obviously meant photo mode since it's only possible to take paused still shots that way. The game looks better in absolute still, which part is so hard to understand?

You're dumb or something? When I say in still shots I mean shots taken when the game is paused with no background movements whatsoever. And I never claimed anyone sharpened their images, just giving them a free pass to sharpen if desired to do so, try to read.

Temporal AA approaches can be prone to ghosting and other odd artifacts, and aggressive accumulation approaches typically result in what amounts to a thin but heavy blur filter in areas with slow movements. People should stop accusing UC4's photomode is increasing the quality, it's totally inaccurate to say so.

Except it's not. It clearly looks better when it's in photomode. Even if you want to argue that it's only marginally(except it's pretty damn obvious), it still looks better.

If by looking better you mean in still shots then by all means. But then again one can also argue it looks a lot better in motion since you get to see animations and what not. It's purely a matter of preference. One thing to keep in mind tho is that photomode does not employ extra effects or process the image more, what little difference in sharpness that it creates is merely a side effect of the TSSAA that it uses both in gameplay AND photomode. So if we're to compare still shots of the game, it's entirely reasonable to use UC4's photomode. To make matter extra fairer, the opposition could always sharpen their images in photoshop to a slight degree if desired, or use their own photomode shots etc. Fair and square now?
