There's no way Obsidian will be able to truly express themselves on the Microsoft platform. We've already seen what Activision has done to Blizzard and Bungie.

Happy 12 years! Mine was in March, seems like no time at all has passed since I started here. I just wish Gamespot didn't kill the forums. There was a lot of quality people here.

@Thanatos2k: Nobody has lost rights to IP because they've paid expensive lawyers to protect it. Just because it doesn't happen doesn't mean it can't.

@a687947: You don't seem to know very much. Square-Enix shut down a Chrono Trigger 3D remake way back in the early 2000's. It was over half done when they did it. They've also shut down several other fan projects over the years.

That Halo game is being endorsed because it is a literal ground-up remake of the original, with ZERO original assets. 343 Industries/Microsoft actually said that it's only acceptable if they do all the work to remake it.

Nintendo isn't anti-consumer, they are anti-IP theft. Look at the Metroid II: Return of Samus remake they shut down last year. Everyone was up in arms the same they are over this... then Nintendo reveals their own remake this past E3. Do you even grasp the idea of copyright infringement and the commercial repercussions it has?

Nintendo holds their IP's close to the chest because they want to remain in control of them, even if they don't make a new game in a particular series for over 10 years. It's called good business practice. If you owned something as big as Mario or Pokemon, you'd have the same thought.

@James_xeno: Because a company that's in this business to make money totally wants to lose their trademark rights to their intellectual property and have it go public domain.

Nintendo doesn't do this to make people hate them, they do it so they can stay in business and continue making games.

If the developer of this mod actually went to the trouble to make something original, even just a cheap ripoff that doesn't use any Pokemon assets or ideas, they would have been free and clear. Just because someone is a "fan" of something doesn't give them the right to use a company's IP as they see fit.

There's a name I haven't seen around these parts in a while. How have you been?

And there goes the money I would have given them. Welp, too bad so sad for them.

Considering how "quickly" Gamespot gets their gaming news (and usually from System Wars), I'd be better off getting my gaming news from Facebook community pages than a dedicated app. Thanks.

That's awfully suggestive.

Developers need to stop giving out release dates and rely on the Blizzard method of "when it's done".
